Pikmin 3 originally released for the WiiU in 2013. The game was widely praised, with several critics praising its level design, environment and gameplay. Now you have the chance to relive it all in Pikmin 3 Deluxe, which arrives on Nintendo Switch on October 30. The Pikmin 3 re-release will come with modern features that you can have on the Switch.
The list of features is taken from the European Store Page for Pikmin 3 Deluxe:
- 2P Co-op: Explore the main story in two-player co-op on the same console!
- New Adventures: Go alone or team up with a friend to experience all-new prologue and epilogue stories featuring the heroes of Pikmin and Pikmin 2 Olimar and Louie!
- Quality of Life Improvements: Expand your exploration with an improved lockable targeting system, enemy balance changes, multiple difficulty modes, optional hints, and more.
- Piklopedia: Unlock each character's profile entries and learn about their unique perspectives on each creature you discover.
The two big strengths are the difficulty mode and the local two-player co-op for the campaign. For anyone who wants to play the main story with a friend, you can gift someone on the same couch as you a controller to play through the entire campaign. Previously, you could only do competitive modes with a friend. Additionally, with a friend, you can increase the difficulty to make the challenge much longer lasting, or you can choose an easier experience to enjoy Pikmin 3's creative level design.
There are several new things in the works for Pikmin 3, and there are likely more to come that we'll learn more about ahead of the game's launch on October 30. The sales quality of this game might indicate how quickly gamers can expect to see a Pikmin 4 hit the market if Nintendo isn't already working on it.
