The big new feature that is coming Pokémon Sword and Shield is Dynamax and Gigantamax forms for Pokémon. Dynamax is a new ability that allows Pokémon to become giant. Gigantamax does the same, but also changes the appearance of the Pokémon. Only certain Pokémon receive Gigantamax forms. On the other hand, it appears that any Pokémon can have a Dynamax form.
Dynamaxing and Gigantamaxing only last for three moves, while still giving Pokémon a good stat boost. Pokémon get a unique set of moves while in these forms, with all Gigantamax Pokémon having their own moves. For example, Gigantamax Pikachu can use the movement called G-Max Volt Crash, which is exclusive to itself.
