You can play the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare right now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or from the PC through Blizzard's battle.net launcher. All of them are viable and reasonable ways to play the game with a group of friends. Additionally, players get the chance to play with other players, not on their platform. Those using an Xbox One console can play with those on the PlayStation 4, and both consoles can join PC players in a match. Now players will see special symbols next to the profile names of those they are with or against in multiplayer matches. Here's what these symbols mean.
What are the multiplayer cross play symbols in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare?
Before you can see these symbols, you need to make sure that you have cross play enabled in your game. To check if you are doing this, be sure to follow our guide to cross play to make sure everything is set up. You are not required to play the game with this feature enabled. So if you don't want to play with anyone other than those on your platform, feel free to turn it off.
In addition, you will have to do everything in your power to find these symbols. You're probably going to see them right before a game in the game, and they're only with those on your team. You will see them to the right of the profile name.
If you have it enabled and can continue, here are the symbols for each platform.
PC
The first is a bit obvious. You will know that you are playing with someone who is on a PC and who is probably using a mouse and keyboard with the "mouse" icon next to their name. It stands out among the rest defines how someone spends their time. You can also see if they are from a PC by clicking on the Blizzard battle.net launcher icon next to their name. This icon indicates in detail that they are using a PC, based on their network.
PlayStation 4 et Xbox One
Just like the PC version, you'll see an indicator next to the player's name with a controller and a PS network or an Xbox One icon next to the controller. These players are clearly on their console. PC gamers who stick to their keyboard and mouse setup have doubts about this. The only way to do this is to activate their "Controller" in their options. This option will have it, so only their controller will be picked up during the game, which will disable their keyboard and mouse.
This action levels the playing field because those who are going to use a mouse and keyboard have a significantly better advantage. A gamer with a mouse will likely be much more precise than someone using a controller.
These are the two different symbols that you should look for when in cross play. Again, if you are a PC gamer using strictly a keyboard and mouse, you are unlikely to come across console gamers using their controllers. You can certainly play with this crowd if you want to join in, but you'll have to disable your setup and stick with a controller.
