In Before Your Eyes we will play a soul picked up in a mysterious world by an unlikely fisherman with the appearance of a feline. The ferryman will begin to converse with us intent on bringing us in front of the "Gatekeeper“, A mysterious entity that sits on top of an eerie black tower. Together with him, our "character" will retrace the story of his life in a journey back in time to be able to tell a story to the gatekeeper and let him decide what to do with our future.
Il introspective journey is characterized by a series of sequences whose speed will depend on us and our eyes. Before Your Eyes, in fact, uses an innovative narrative control system that depends on our blinking. The webcam of our computer it will have to be properly calibrated and will be taken into account every time we blink. With each blink, the narrative will continue, maybe 5 minutes ahead, maybe 5 years. With this interesting pretext, the story continues, precisely, under our eyes giving us the opportunity to make some choices, look around (with the use of the mouse) and little else.
The story of the protagonist, which we obviously do not tell you, is much more complex and articulated than the "joyful" version that he tries to give to the shrewd ferryman. A profound journey awaits us.

The eyes are your controller
Before Your Eyes Gameplay is a more unique than rare case. The game uses interesting motion perception technology to tell when the computer webcam detects a blink of an eye. The game unfolds in a series of sequences that keep the story going. Through our eyes we will be able to make choices or perform small actions depending on the sequence where we are. When a metronome appears at the bottom of the screen though, at the next blink, the sequence will end to go to the next one.
But beware, the game does not want to challenge you to a race to see who can keep the gaze for as long as possible. Blinking will be more than natural and part of the game requires you to continue without necessarily reaching the end of a dialogue or without fully knowing the wishes or thoughts of the characters. It is a journey, an exceptional narrative that guides us step by step in the life of the protagonist.
A difficult journey made in the company of parents, music, art and those life lessons that are learned only in the crudest way possible.

As anticipated, they are present in the game some choices to make. These choices can alter some sequences later but, unfortunately, will never change the game ending. A variety of conclusions could have given that something missing in the game which is partially compensated by a 'high replayability. Although the story of Before Your Eyes lasts about 2 hours, retracing the life of the protagonist making different choices can be very interesting.
Furthermore, it must be said that the game also gives the possibility to suspend the functioning of the webcam and replace the blinking of the eyes with a simple click of the mouse. This will give you the opportunity to discover every facet, however, making me give up a truly unique level of identification.

Before Your Eyes: novità con stile
In addition to the particular Gameplay system, Before Your Eyes also features one particularly nice graphic style. One style cartoonish with wise use of lights and colors, fits perfectly with the themes dealt with at play, from painting to nocturnal sequences to the more emotional ones.
To give strength to a narrative full of facets, one thinks English dubbing particularly successful which gives body and soul to parents and other people present in the protagonist's life. Unfortunately, currently, we don't have Italian subtitles which could make it particularly difficult to fully understand the plot.
