Since the initial release of Sims 4, we've seen various DLC expansion packs released for the game. Each pack brings a whole new range of content, including new features, worlds, careers, pets, and gameplay. . The following guide will rank the nine expansion packs, from worst to best, taking into account the depth of content added and the overall value of the expansion pack.
9. Getting to work
This extension is nice for anyone looking to become a doctor, scientist, or detective. However, this pack suffers from limited gameplay in terms of versatility. After some time spent with the extension, boredom begins to set in, and soon after, the pack can feel quite repetitive. This expansion was the first expansion for Sims 4 as it has shown its age over the years as some issues are still significant.
8. Eco Lifestyle
This pack is centered on the idea of the ecological footprint of the world. The initiative here is to focus on practicing an eco-friendly lifestyle, including setting a “green” example in your neighborhood. However, three words sum up this pack - “sharing is caring”. While this system looks gradual and exciting on paper, in reality it turns into "stealing is caring" as NPCs can essentially "borrow" various items from you.
7. Get together
The world in this expansion is one of the largest. If clubs are your thing, then this DLC pack is for you. The reason is that you can build a club out of anything, because that's the central aspect of expansion. For example, if you want a spa day, you can create your social club focused on a pampered lifestyle. However, there are no new career path options in this pack. However, if meeting other Sims is not essential to your playstyle, then this pack may not be of interest to you.
6. Island life
This pack is ideal for living the island lifestyle, whether you are basking in the sun or lounging on the beach. This pack features new careers, events, amazing views, and even the occasional mermaid. However, there is limited gameplay and content beyond the initial appeal of island culture. Plus, there aren't many islands to choose from, and there aren't many career options either.
5. Cats and dogs
If you are an animal lover, this pack is for you. Choose from a diverse selection of various pets, including cats and dogs. There is also a veterinary career that you can join and pursue. Pets aside, this pack suffers from limited content compared to other expansions. Pets are the main draw in this pack, so this expansion won't be for everyone.
4. Be famous
This expansion centers on the world famous lifestyle of Del Sol Valley. Take advantage of new career options that match the entertainment industry, including pursuing an acting career. This pack is a great way to socialize and meet other Sims. However, it is similar to the "Get to Work" expansion pack, in that it can seem repetitive after a while. This pack particularly disappoints with the built-in "fame system". Nonetheless, if you really want to meet other Sims and live a lavish lifestyle, then this pack is for you.
3. City life
City Life introduces you to the vast city of San Myshuno, equipped with apartments, home careers, festivals, and more. This new town benefits from many different activities. The new world of this pack is very unique to other worlds and includes three different career paths. It's a great choice for gamers interested in getting a lot of content and exploration with their expansion pack.
2. Discover the university
Discover University exemplifies the university lifestyle. This expansion incorporates a young-adult atmosphere, its demographic target being university students. You can participate in everything a typical student can, including living on or off campus, joining clubs, attending events, and more. This pack is a great way to meet other Sims and features plenty of sports and other school-related activities. A huge amount of content is also offered.
1. Seasons
It all depends on the seasons in The Sims. Seasons adds tons of great content across the board. This extension is more of a background pack type. With it, you can control the weather, create your personalized vacation, enjoy activities all year round and enjoy the in-game calendar, allowing you to plan events and celebrate the holidays. While Seasons doesn't offer a new world, it makes up for it in other ways.
