The difference between an acceptable gimmick and a terrible one is pretty straightforward - while some gimmicks weigh down the gaming experience, they don't ruin it completely. is still a great game despite the motion control gadget. Other games aren't so lucky - Instinct Mode, Werehogs, Mobile RTS Bases, Kinect, and Drawing with the Stylus. These are some of the things that made us tear our hair out in frustration.
Stasis isn't just for PvE [[]
is in a strange place. The looter-shooter has had a great year with a new set that fans love and hate with every fiber of their being. The planets have been destroyed and replaced with reskinned locations from, Exotic weapons have been removed and plenty of activity has been put to graze to make room for -… not much.
And none of it compares to the vitriol generated by the new Stasis ability. This cool new feature allows you to temporarily freeze enemies in battle and deal massive damage. It's a welcome addition to PvE where newer subclasses can use it. But for some reason, this ability isn't locked out of PvP modes.
Stasis is a power specially designed to freeze people for a few seconds. When you are hit by Stasis, there is nothing you can do but wait to escape. You can't escape early. There is no defense. And literally, everyone in the game has access to it. What were people thinking about?
Walk yourself to death [[]
is a time capsule of a game. For fans of the original games, it's a killer piece of nostalgia - with awkward English dubbing and a pastoral rhythm to the story that creates a sort of unpolished charm of the old. school. Although the combat system is not the same, it is fully usable and doesn't spoil the experience. There is just one big problem: walking kills you.
Presumably to add more elements of simulation and give Ryo a reason to eat, walking around the village drains stamina. Your stamina and health are the same, and running causes your HP to drain even faster. At the start of the game you are desperately poor and buying a few food items can be too expensive.
And that's a big deal. If you don't bring enough food, you are slowly walking around with 1 HP. Go into a fight and you won't stand a chance - and even if you have food, you'll have to waste it just to be at full strength before a battle. It's a weird system that actively kills your momentum just by doing a deadly task.
