We take a look at the losers of the remake world. Not all of these games are necessarily bad, but there are some aspects that are definitely worse than the original version. We've been burned by the promise of modern remakes, and we're going to burn these games right away. Here are 10 remade games that were worse than the original.
The living anthology [[]
, in some ways, is a work of art - a huge collection of games that have been updated over the years, including new games as additional DLC. Some of these games are only playable on modern Xbox and PC consoles thanks to this collection. In some ways, is a Halo fan's dream come true. In another way, it's a complete nightmare.
If you only run the campaigns, this is an amazing package. But if you want to play online in, or, or, then the problems start to get out of hand. The launch and the years (and years) of fixes that followed - the completely broken inline component and the matchmaking burst made this one of the most talked about bad launches of all time.
Then there's the Sterilized Forge Mode, a fan favorite accessory that allowed players to create their own maps and game modes. The problems were so bad in 2014, the developers gave up add-ons as an apology. And the updates continue to this day - 6 years later!
Comic Sans Curse [[]
While that has finally been fixed - most of the time there are still fixes to come - there is no. In the last few years of, before giving up game development altogether, they tried to force this improved low-effort, cheap, and broken edition to an unsuspecting world.
It doesn't help that and are some of the best games ever made and highly respected in the horror community. Upgraded versions are bugs, broken damage with terrible frame rates, graphics changes that destroy the skuzzy immersion of the originals, and bewildering choices all around. completely re-recorded the voiceovers for all the characters - which is quite polarizing, but it's not even the worst change.
The worst change is the way the graphics have been so incompetently "updated". Comic Sans. Look, this font is an internet joke for a reason. Why would anyone try to use it in a horror game?
