The Yuka mobile app arrives in Italy. With already 20 million users worldwide, it allows you to scan the barcodes of food and cosmetic products and of immediately recognize their impact on health.

The application analyze immediately the barcode and, thanks to a simple evaluation system and a clear and detailed presentation of the information, the user is able to understand the properties and impact of the product. If a product has a negative impact on health, Yuka recommends alternative products similar but healthier.
Yuka has developed its own database, which currently contains 1,5 million products, of which 70% are food and 30% are cosmetics. Currently, Yuka recognizes 80% of the products available in Italy. If the user scans an unrecognized product, he can add it directly into the application by photographing the labels. This process allows Yuka to progressively expand its database of Italian products so that it is as complete as possible. A rigorous control system also ensures that the information contained in the application is correct.
The products are valued so absolutely neutral. No brand and no manufacturer has any influence on the ratings and recommendations proposed in the application. Completely ad-free - even in the free version -, the Yuka app is financed thanks to the Premium version of the application. In addition to the Yuka book “The guide to healthy eating”, an online Nutrition Program and the sale of a calendar of seasonal fruit and vegetables (only available in France).
A worldwide success
Behind Yuka there is a small group of 11 people. It is a project that immediately grew exponentially without the need for advertising, thanks solely to word of mouth and media impact.
Yuka was launched in France in January 2017 and counts today 20 million users and users scan 5 million barcodes every day. The application is currently available in 10 countries besides France: Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, Luxembourg, United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, United States and Australia.
