The desktop version of YouTube now wants to facilitate this transition from smartphone to PC. Thus, if you interrupt content on your smartphone and then launch the streaming site on your computer, the platform will display the video in question in the lower right corner of the screen with the words "Continue watching".

If you click on the Play icon, the video will play in thumbnail, always at the bottom right. You will have to click somewhere on the image to display it larger. 9to5Google says it noticed this new feature a few days ago, but explains that more and more people are also reporting this change.
Note, however, that this “Continue watching” option does not appear the other way around, when you switch from the desktop version of YouTube to the mobile application on Android or iOS.
