Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro review: the mid-range has been redone
xiaomi redmi note 10 pro recensione min 1

Xiaomi presented a promising new line of smartphones, with a mid-range price but completely different features: we have thoroughly tested the Notes redmi 10 Pro for this Full review. A smartphone with a brilliant AMOLED screen, lightning-fast charging and more. We give you the spoiler immediately: we liked the Redmi Note 10 Pro. The real question is: is enough for your needs?

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro review

When we opened the box of the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro, we were positively impressed. The smartphone has a beautiful design, four sensors for the camera on the back. Weight of 193 grams and thickness of only 8,2 mm. The fingerprint reader on the side (very comfortable and responsive) also acts as a key for the ignition. Good build quality. There is also one in the box transparent cover complimentary. But what struck us most is the size of the battery charger.

We wouldn't usually talk about a smartphone's battery at the beginning of a review, but see the charger from 33W in a smartphone of this price range made us want to try it as soon as possible. The problem is that we had to wait more than a day for the first charge to run out (around 70%), although we set the screen to maximum brightness and refresh rate and used it intensively. In less than an hour the charger then brought the battery from 0 to 100% 5.020 mAh. A really good result, both for autonomy and for recharging. The only negative is the absence of wireless charging. But it is really the only real flaw we have found with this phone, as you will understand in the rest of the review of this Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro.

A top-of-the-range display in a mid-range smartphone

If the battery serves to make sure you have a nice product in your hands, it is also true that there are rivals in this price range with capacious power supplies and important autonomies. But to have a quality screen you have to go up in price. Not in this case: the 6,67-inch AMOLED FHD + display (395 PPI) really got us excited.

Very bright colors, excellent brightness and great readability in all light conditions. But the difference is certainly the 120Hz refresh rate. By default it is set at 60Hz to increase autonomy. But unless you need to stay away from an outlet for two consecutive days, go to Settings, Display and change it to 120Hz. Games are better looking, videos smoother, general navigation on another level. Once tried, difficult to go back.

A very good quality screen, large enough to watch a couple of episodes of a TV series in HDR10. A surprise in this price range. And a great product overall.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro review: good performance, without exaggerating

The trial version sent to us by Xiaomi is the one from 6GB of RAM and 128GB of memory. What we expect most users to want to buy: the performance limit is not so much RAM as memory UFS 2.2. The processor, on the other hand, is one Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G: a chip that we do not recommend for those looking for a gaming smartphone. But that performs really well in everyday use.

In fact we did not experience any slowdowns or problems using your smartphone. The navigation through the menus is very fluid, the 6GB of RAM allow you to manage multitasking even between more heavy applications in an overall good way. The connection is excellent as well as the telephone reception: You can make both video and voice calls with great quality (people we talked to also experienced good audio quality and robust reception).

In short, if you use it as a generalist smartphone it makes little sense to ask for more. If you are looking for a mobile video game console, it is not ideal. The Game Mode allows you to exclude notifications and optimize resources, but i heavier games have some slight lag. Nothing that can ruin the experience, it's just not the best performance on the market.

The camera surprises with its quality

Xiaomi has focused heavily on the camera in the presentation we witnessed. We turned our noses up a bit watching the conference: usually mid-range smartphones promise photographic miracles and then disappoint expectations. But in this case we would like to say that Redmi Note 10 Pro keeps the promises made. The main sensor from 108MP and f / 1.9 works great for "without thinking" photographs: open the camera app and click. The result is very good indeed. But even when you open the zoom (up to 6X) many details remain. The only flaw we have managed to find is there lack of optical stabilization in the videos.

The sensor 8MP wide angle and f / 2.2 it is not quite as great but it is accurate and does not distort. Macros have a dedicated 5MP sensor, which works well. The Portrait effect software isn't as perfect as others we see in the higher price ranges (or Pixels) but it works fairly well. The depth sensor is not an essential addition, but a welcome one.

La 32MP selfie camera it's good for snapshots and perfect for video calls or social media streaming.

Overall we are satisfied, even software that allows you to produce something of interest to more experienced users, while remaining very intuitive for those who are not. We leave you some shots in the various modes as proof.

    The experience with MIUI 12.0

The operating system of this new Xiaomi smartphone is MIUI 12.0, which integrates the features of Android 11. We are fans of the new Google operating system, especially the navigation gestures, here very well implemented (even if by default you find the three virtual keys at the bottom of the screen).

At first glance we were a little disappointed with the amount of pre-installed software. We've kept some apps, like Twitch's (by the way, have you seen the channel?). But we spent a lot of time eliminating the ones we didn't need. After this first impact, however, we were positively surprised. No bugs or problems, always snappy. The gestures are interesting, the multitasking well managed. A clear and aesthetically beautiful interface, also aided by the big screen. Passed with full marksdespite the uncertain start.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Review: Conclusions

Overall we can say that we really liked this smartphone, even pretending not to know the price. If you don't need it for competitive or high-level gaming, if you don't care for perfect videos with optical stabilization and if wireless charging is not a must, we don't see why you should spend one euro more. And to improve the first two flaws (processor and optical stabilization) you have to shell out a lot more.

The 6 / 64GB version (expandable) costs 299 €, the 6 / 129GB one (which we tested) costs 329 €, while the 8 / 128GB one costs 349 €. What we have tried is perhaps the best option, even if they all have definitely favorable quality / price ratio. If you find them in promotion atreleased in late March, immediately become best buy. But even so they are smartphones with superlative autonomy and a really good screen, excellent for 90% of users in 90% of occasions. Highly recommended.
