Ori and the Will of Wicks is the new game from Moon Studios and Xbox Game Studios. This is the sequel to the 2015 game Ori and the Blind Forest. When this original game was released, it was an Xbox One and PC exclusive, but would release on Nintendo Switch in 2019.
At the time of writing, there is no confirmation that Ori and the Will of the Wicks will release on Nintendo Switch. At launch, the sequel is once again exclusive to Xbox One and PC via Steam and the Windows Store.
According to Xbox Marketing Director Aaron Greenberg, it was Moon Studios that pushed Ori and the Blind Forest to Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft wasn't planning on it.
“Ou Je is built by Moon Studios, which is an independent external studio,” Greenberg said MCV. “They came to us with a desire to bring the original Ou Je to the Switch. We thought it made sense, and we're happy to work with them to enable them to bring this to Switch. "
He went on to say that Microsoft "is focused on making games for our platforms, and we have no plans to expand our exclusive first-party games to other consoles."
Greenberg ended by pointing out that Moon Studios is still an independent and external studio, so the chance of Will of the Wisps land on Switch in the future is possible, but not currently planned.
Ori and the Blind Forest isn't the only Xbox exclusive to release on Nintendo Switch. Studio MDHR Cuphead finally released on the hybrid console.
