During the EA Play LIve event, we got our first look at Star Wars: Squadron gameplay and also had a bunch of new details presented for the upcoming space fighting game. We know that the game is set after the events of "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" and you will be able to customize the fighter ships you pilot. It was also nice to see what the goal of the game was, with two multiplayer game modes presented and detailed. Here is what we saw.
Mode Dogfight
Dogfights are essentially the squadron tag team deathmatch. It's a 5v5 battle between teams where you will have to change your equipment and use tractor beams, turrets and mines to take down the enemy team.
Fleet battles
Fleet Battles were described during the event as the iconic squadron standout mode that will put you and your teammates to the test. The match takes place over a series of stages and can be played against humans or AI. It seems that before the match starts, your team will meet in a social center to work together and see what load and what role each person will take.
Upon take-off, you will immediately be thrown into aerial combat. After winning the fight, you will need to focus on taking down two medium sized capital ships that seem simple. If you remove both, the end goal is to destroy the enemy's flagship by removing certain sections of it. The sections to remove are the shield generators at the top, the power system at the bottom, and the targeting system in the middle of the gigantic ship.
Fleet battles really seem to depend on working together as a team when pushing the attack or retreating to defend your ships. You can stealthily try to take out a capital ship on your own, but you'll leave your team down if they're trying to protect your objectives.

Although only two game modes were presented, their potential could be more in the works. However, the game will cost $ 39,99, so you can expect it to be smaller than usual. We also know that there will be a single player campaign that allows you to build a character on both sides of the fight and fight against AI opponents. Star Wars: Squadrons releases October 2 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
