You might have fond memories of Super Mario Sunshine, but those memories will be attached to a classic controller and the Nintendo Switch will give you something very different. Your muscle memory can betray you a bit, so in this article we will help you familiarize yourself with the Super Mario Sunshine game on Joy-Cons.
The big change for Super Mario Sunshine is the way you use FLUDD. The GameCube version had an interesting double push mechanism on the analog stick of the controller, depending on whether you wanted to shoot that awesome water cannon when you're moving or standing still.
On the Nintendo Switch, you can use the R and ZR buttons. ZR will allow you to shoot moving water, called in the game "Running Squirt", while R will allow you to stop and aim, called "Stop and Squirt". It's a bit of a weird feeling if you've played the GameCube version, but you'll quickly get used to it.
Another notable info for the FLUDD is that after pressing R to stop and squirt you will have to push the right joystick to enter the Mario Cam. The L button will now give you the guide, X will let you change nozzles, and ZL will let you center the camera, which is incredibly useful.
So here's a little list to make them all easier to read:
- ZR - Running squirt
- R - Stop and squirt
- Press the right stick - enter Mario Cam
- ZL - central camera
- L - open the guide
- X - change the nozzles
