Con the BMW X6 e the Mercedes GLE Coupé, the “SUV Coupé” niche is gradually starting to present itself as a new range of cars. The Toyota C-HR, even the Nissan Juke, could claim this qualification, which is still far from having the right to appear in our dictionaries. A new entry in this section of the market could be Volkswagen Nivus, which the German car manufacturer has just presented in Brazil and which will have to coexist with its older sister T-Cross. These two models share the same MQB-A0 base, the same dashboard, the same engines and other elements.
Some differences compared to the T-Cross
To stand out, the newcomer will therefore rely primarily on its much more angled rear end and its refined glass surfaces.
Much less square than the T-Cross, the Volkswagen Nivus also offers a decorative pattern on the front wings, (like the Golf 8), as well as a redesigned facies. THEThe trunk is limited to 415 cm3, something less than that of the T-Cross which reaches up to 455 cm3. The model also becomes less compact, with a length of 4,26 meters, 16 centimeters more than the European T-Cross.

Volkswagen Nivus, likely only two engines for Europe
Designed for the South American market (after Brazil it will also be launched in Argentina), the Volkswagen Nivus will arrive in Europe only in the second half of 2021. To consolidate its slightly more "sophisticated" positioning than that of the T-Cross, the Nivus gets a 10-inch touchscreen in the higher versions, instead of the 8-inch one intended for the "normal" version of the T-Cross.
No all-wheel drive, incompatible with its underbody, which will remain a prerogative of the T-Roc. As for the range of engines, it should see the debut of the 1.0 HP 118 TSI in addition to a 1.5 TSI 150. The 6-speed automatic transmission is proposed as standard. We will therefore remain far from the 300 HP T-Roc R and we are not sure whether the 1.6 TDI diesel or the small 1.0 TSI 95 are part of the range of engines proposed for this niche model.
