TikTok updates the Community Guidelines
TikTok has announced an update to its Community Guidelines. The platform started strengthen its rules around online challenges, promotion of eating disorders e ideologies that incite hatred.
The head of trust and security of the video-sharing site, Cormac Keenan, said they have updated the rules to help improve transparency for users and clarity for moderators on what content shouldn't be posted.
Among the main updates which will be implemented in the coming weeks we find:
- Consolidation of the policy on dangerous actions and challenges;
- Broader Approach to Eating Disorders;
- Clarifications on the types of hate ideologies prohibited on the platform;
- Extension of the policy that protects the security, integrity, availability and reliability of the platform.
As for the first point: following #SicuriSuTikTok. videos made by creators @kiro_ebra, @fabianamanager and @marcoilgiallino will also be available. Creators invite the community to follow four useful steps when evaluating online content: stop, think, decide and act.
In addition, the latest Report on the Application of the Community Guidelines was also published, where it is highlighted that in the third quarter of 2021 have been removed further 91 million infringing videos. The removed videos represent approximately1% of all uploaded videos. Of these, the 95% was removed before it was even reported by a user, the88% before receiving any display and 93% within 24 hours of publication.
