Huawei seems to want to bet a lot on the series Nova 9, and a few months after the launch of the smartphone has introduced the variant on the market SE, which we have had to test extensively over the past few weeks: here is ours review of a device that in its field is configured as really interesting.
Huawei Nova 9 SE: our review
The strength of SE is its low price compared to the variant already released on the market (€ 349,90), which however comes at the cost of slightly lower specifications, which we will see in more detail later.
Physically and in terms of design, Nova 9 SE looks like it is in line with its colleagues from the Huawei brand, with a strong display from 6,78 inches with refresh rate a 90Hz.
The back of the smartphone is also characterized by a curved structure, which makes it very easy to hold, even if it is "stained" very easily with fingerprints, while the screen has a brightness such as to make it easy to use even outdoors and in direct sunlight.
Sore point for the 4000mAh battery, which unfortunately does not offer a noteworthy autonomy, especially if you use it for its reason for being, or as a smartphone dedicated to taking photographs, with particular attention to the creation of content.
The photographic sector
Huawei Nova 9 SE has a total of four photographic modules, one main with sensor from 108 MP, a ultra wide angle with 8 MP sensor, for an bokeh effect module from 2MP, a macro photography module from 2MP.
Of course there is the possibility of taking pictures in High Res mode, through the 108 MP lens and there is also support for 9-in-1 pixel technology to obtain good results even in low light conditions.
For vlog lovers we then have the function of Continuous Front / Rear Recording, which allows you to switch between the front and rear cameras and vice versa during recording, and the Dual View mode, to show your reactions to live events.
There are even basic video editing functions, so that you are always prepared in any situation. In short, it is difficult to find something to complain about in these respects, on the other hand it is the pulsating core of the Nova 9 range.
A choice of design what we found a little unsuitable, however, is the position of the camera box, which protrudes a lot and causes the phone to sway annoyingly when placed on a flat surface.
Performance and operating system
To animate the Nova 9 SE is the processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 4G, a decidedly demanding chipset and which fortunately does not overheat thanks to the graphene cooling system that can boast the device. The performance in this respect remains good even when transmitting live video, which is recorded smoothly and without jerks.
As with all other Huawei devices then we have theApp Gallery, a proprietary store that the company developed in 2018 and that has continued to update itself since then, to the point that there is no longer a lack of any software inside.
Applications must be downloaded via Petal Search, a search service that is easy to use, but which at first might cause too many headaches. Nothing particularly disabling is clear, but we still need a few attempts before we really get carried away.
Almost unjustified absence is the 5G, which is really heavy, especially if we consider that several of its competitors in the same price range support it without problems.
