We have worn on the wrist Oppo watch to test it for this review. And although withholding judgment until the end of the article could convince you to continue reading, we must tell you right away: we stayed pleasantly impressed. Despite Wear OS still has some uncertainty too much, using this watch immediately becomes second nature. Let's try to tell you why.
Oppo Watch review: a design already seen but of quality
Opening the long and white package with which Oppo protects its Watch, a device with a rectangular shape but with rounded corners, we had the impression that only the Bitten Apple logo was missing. Oppo yes it is clearly inspired by Apple Watch for design of his watch. A choice that has not made us crazy but that many users will certainly appreciate.
But rest assured: the similarities end there. In fact, on the left of the dial Oppo positions two buttons, the first that allows you to access the apps and activate the Google Assistant by pressing for a long time, the second for tracking sports activity and to turn off the smart watch. On the opposite side you find it speaker. On the sides the beautiful display from 1,91 inches it curves slightly, which is great for gestures. The soft strap has a proprietary design (spares may be difficult to find), great for sports. But the black color is also suitable for a more elegant setting.
Finally, weighs only 39 grams (ours is the 46mm WiFi-only version, the 41 one weighs only 30 grams). The result is a smart watch with simple and elegant lines, light and of excellent build quality.
Big screen and good hardware
Turning on the Oppo Watch we were immediately impressed with bright colors and smooth and well-made animations. Very bright, so much so that we had trouble reading the screen only on the black tracking screen in direct sunlight. You do not find better solutions, if not in smartwatches designed for sports (heavier and generally more expensive). It really impressed us: the 402 x 476 pixel resolution and screen quality AMOLED provides great animations and excellent contrast.
We have a hardware side Qualcomm® Snapdragon Wear™ 3100 accompanied by Ambiq Micro Apollo3 Wireless SoC. The RAM from 1GB and the good processor ensure really excellent performance: we have never seen slowdowns in any function and the notifications vibrated practically simultaneously with our smartphone. The 8 GB of memory they give enough space to save as many apps as you want, even if you find practically everything you need already installed (Spotify is missing, which you can download directly from the smart watch).
Good autonomy
The battery from 430mAh it didn't thrill us like the other technical features. However, it proved to be more than enough to guarantee at least 24 hours of autonomy even when we answered calls and frequently activated the GPS to monitor sports activity. On days when you have little time to train with GPS (for example if like us you have to watch some E3 conferences), you can also reach the two days of autonomy.
Very comfortable magnetic charger, which makes it easy to charge your smartphone. In about three quarters of an hour you can fully charge the smart watch.
Oppo Watch Review: Wear OS has some uncertainties, which can be overcome
The only real flaw we can find for this smart watch concerns the operating system. Unfortunately Wear OS still has some too many uncertainties, although after Google's recent announcements it looks like it can get better. There are so many possibilities: you can activate Narrator with your voice, for example. Too bad it often does not start (even if once turned on it responds very well). The same goes for the ability to call someone with the smart watch, which has had more than one impediment.
But if we exclude these "extra" functions (you can wake up the Google Assistant by holding down the top button), the everyday experience is fluid. Notifications are easy to manage, you can respond to messages with suggestions, with the keyboard or even by voice. You have the option to download apps directly to the watch or fix everything with Wear OS from your smartphone. Also answer calls from the phone it is simple and comfortable: the only problem, the audio is a little too low. But the other person felt great.
Oppo has studied navigation very well on its Watch, with each side of the dial that has its own function. From above you can activate flashlight, airplane mode and all the others functions (interesting the cinema function to prevent the screen from turning on). From below you will find the notifications, which you can answer or cancel (even all in one go). On the right are yours cards: daily activity, sleep monitoring, etc. On the left there is Google Now, with Google Assistant, Weather and all the cards you prefer.

The feeling is that of using a smart watch with the same potential as a smartphone. Oppo's customization makes Wear OS even more flexible. Too bad for some uncertainty, which most users can safely ignore.

Sport and health
On Wear OS you can install many applications for sports and health. But we, after a few tests, found ourselves a almost always use the apps proposed by Oppo. By clicking once on the button at the bottom (a long press allows you to turn off or restart the screen) you can access the quick menu for sports activities. There are both fitness and fat burning running (although theoretically we don't understand the difference), outdoor walking, cycling and swimming. Also activities that require GPS are activated immediately, providing useful data and information even during the activity.
The detection of the heartbeat it seemed precise and dynamic to us, able to catch the changes of pace during training. The sleep monitoring it is accurate. On the smart watch you will find enough information on health and sport but if you want you can download the proprietary application of Oppo HeyTap. Which is well done, although we found the information on the smart watch sufficient.

Oppo Watch really impressed us very much: it is without a doubt among the best smart watches with Wear OS In circulation. A smart watch completewith one really great screen and above average performance. Oppo wanted its Apple Watch and (made the necessary measures) made it, even if unfortunately Wear OS does not yet have the same continuity in performance.
Those who want a sports watch might look for something more comprehensive on that point of view (for example with blood oxygenation). But those who want the Android answer to the Apple Watch can (almost) find it at 250 €It is called Oppo Watch and is highly recommended.
