Along with the redesigned iMac, Apple unveiled a new Magic Keyboard with Touch ID that enables fingerprint authentication, which allows you to unlock your computer, confirm a purchase with Apple Pay, or fill out a login form, among other things. .
The Magic Keyboard with Touch ID is compatible with all Mac M1s, including the new iMac, 13-inch MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and Mac mini. When used with Intel-based Macs or other Bluetooth devices, the Magic Keyboard will continue to function normally… minus Touch ID.
There are three keyboard configurations:
- With lock key instead of Touch ID.
- Con Touch ID.
- With numeric keypad and Touch ID.
Although the new Magic Keyboard is compatible with all Mac M1s, it is currently only sold in conjunction with iMacs.
Apple has already introduced exclusive accessories for iMacs, which could then be purchased independently. When iMac Pro was released in December 2017, for example, space gray versions of Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad were only available when purchased alongside the iMac Pro, but in March 2018 they began to be sold individually.
The new iMac with the new Magic Keyboard can be ordered from April 30th and will be available in the second half of May.
