Marvel's Avengers microtransactions, explained

Thanks to the Playstation Store, we now know how microtransactions work in the highly anticipated superhero game Marvel's Avengers. It's nothing painfully confusing and feels like a battle royale. The reason being, there are Battle Passes, Unique Skins, and Emotes, among others, which can all be purchased via Credits (or real-world currency, in essence). All of their prices vary and it can get a bit complex. So here's what to expect when purchasing additional content.

Packs and prices

At the moment, there are currently four credit packages that can be purchased from the in-game market. Each item requires you to purchase the appropriate amount of currency bundles, rather than being able to directly purchase the desired item. For example, if an item is 750 credits, you will need to purchase two of the 500 credit bundles. Here are the current credit bundles, available on each platform's store:

  • 500 credits - $ 4,99
  • 2000 credits - $ 19,99
  • 5000 credits - $ 49,99
  • 10000 credits - $ 99,99

Available items

Marvel's Avengers will look a lot like Fortnite, when it comes to purchasing cosmetics. Along with the takedown animations, the title will contain familiar items such as emotes and character skins, all of which have costs that depend on their rarity. Emotes are the cheapest of the bunch, as rare variants can be found for as little as 250 credits. Skins, on the other hand, will be more expensive and typically cost around 1000 credits.

Battle passes will also be present in the game. These are called Hero Cards, where every available character has one, but only those who released with the base game will have free Hero Cards. So, once a character like Hawkeye is there, you will need to pay 1000 credits (or $ 10) for their Hero Card.

Earn credits without spending money

It sounds like an expensive adventure, but there is better news ahead for you. In Hero cards for all characters, you will receive a certain number of credits upon reaching a particular point in his progression system. Unlike Battle Passes, you won't have to worry about the Hero card changing or resetting your level at some point. So you are in no rush to look for credits on the cards, the reward will always be up for grabs.

Pre-ordering will also allow you to get credits and cosmetics. You may need to familiarize yourself with the different pre-order editions of the game as they all come with different bonuses.
