By now we all ask ourselves: what will they be the future settings of Assassin's Creed? Since its first appearance, which took place in 2007, the saga of Assassin's Creed it has given us evocative historical periods and periods that have been the stage for 11 stories of the main saga. Love it or not, the lucky streak of Ubisoft has undeniably introduced a new way of giving life to settings and creating what we can define as a real Historic Tourism. The brilliant idea of the Animus allowed us to travel from the Third Crusade to the Holy Land, to the Italian Renaissance, from the English industrial revolution to ancient Greece.
What awaits us in the coming years? Unfortunately E3 was unable to answer the question, but do not panic: between rumors and clues, here are our hypotheses on future settings.
Ancient Rome (306 AD)
May the next chapter be set in theancient Rome is the hypothesis most accredited by fans as well as one of the most desired. After Assassin's Creed Odyssey, which took us to Greece in 400 BC, a chapter on ancient Rome seems almost a natural evolution. We have already had the opportunity to savor part of the glorious monuments of Rome, with the ascent of the Pantheon in Assassin's Creed II and that of the Colosseum in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, but walking through the streets of Imperial Rome would mean, especially for us Italians, a dream that come true.
More difficult, however, is the choice of the historical period in the millenary life of Rome. After the consulate of Julius Caesar was partially told to us in Assassin's Creed Origins, the most predictable hypothesis is to place the chapter during the Roman civil war of the years 306-324. A tumultuous period of political intrigues and battles whose end marks the beginning of the Empire of Constantine. The truth is that, whatever period you choose, Rome has something to tell.
