Devolo Magic 2 WiFi next it is a hybrid solution. The basis is that of a powerline, i.e. a device that uses the electrical network to transfer data. Basically you can bring connectivity even meters away simply by connecting the device to a power outlet, with a speed almost analogous to the original one.
Devolo has combined this technology with that typical of mesh networks that manage the WiFi in an intelligent way to allow the user to hook the device which at that moment can provide the best performance. In practice, therefore, you will not have to connect to another network manually. It is the system that does it for you, always choosing the best solution.
How to install
The packaging of Devolo Magic 2 WiFi next include two devices and an Ethernet cable, in addition to the instruction booklet. Setting everything up requires no special knowledge. On the contrary, the steps are very few. First of all connect the bigger powerline where you want to improve the wireless network. When the LED turns white and the light stays solid, connect the second device to a socket near the router and then use the Ethernet cable to connect the latter powerline to the router.
That's all. The rest will be taken care of by the two devices that will "find" and connect independently. When the process is finished you will see both the white and solid LEDs.
This is the basic version of Devolo Magic 2 WiFi next. The advanced one includes the aforementioned mesh network. How it behaves
We have been using Devolo Magic 2 WiFi next for several weeks and the result has been truly excellent. The signal comes strong and without major losses, which he allowed us to do virtually any kind of business. We've surfed the net, used streaming services, and even experimented with some cloud gaming - all without any fuss or slowdown.
At your disposal then you also have two LAN inputs, so in case of need you can also take advantage of the wired connection.
We also point out the presence of a dedicated application which shows you the status of the network. The app also includes setup instructions but frankly we found the printed manual much clearer than the digital directions. It is probably the only aspect of the product that needs improvement. For the rest, the application is quite basic but very clear.
The last aspect you need to consider is the attack. Both powerlines provide a schuko dam and the use of an adapter is highly discouraged.
