Best noise canceling headphones

Fresh n’ Rebel Code ANC

Le Fresh n’ Rebel Code ANC they are the cheapest product on our list. On the market a €99, the Code ANC are on-ear or supra-aural headphones, this means that they do not wrap around the pavilion but rest on top of it.

To characterize them we find bright colors, small dimensions and a good build quality. They are made mostly of plastic, a must to keep the cost down, but it means that you will have a fragile or creaky product in your hands.
Conversely, the Fresh n 'Rebel Code ANC are quite comfortable with a padded headband in silione and faux leather earpads.

You can carry them using the fabric bag that you find in the package and you can fold them to make them take up less space. Attention only to the pavilions that do not rotate 90 °. This means they will stay open when you place them around your neck.

The best noise canceling headphones: the comparison

On the controls front we have physical keys only, naturally located on the pavilions. The latter also house the input for the 3,5 mm jack and the one for charging. We are in fact facing Bluetooth headphones that can work with or without wire. In fact, on board we have a battery that guarantees about 30 hours of use, which drops to 17 by activating active noise cancellation.

But we come to the two most important aspects: sound and ANC. The audio rendering is decent: the voices are heard well but the instrumental part tends to flatten out a little. The bass is also occasionally invasive and cannot be adjusted in any way. Active noise cancellation, on the other hand, is not very powerful but still functional. You activate it with a single button and still guarantees a good level of isolation.

Overall, the ANC Code of Fresh n Rebel are a good product at a very attractive price. If you want to save money, they could be the headphones for you.

Huawei Freebuds Studio

The best noise canceling headphones: the comparison

Le Huawei Freebuds Studio they are elegant, light and very comfortable. Build quality is excellent and we have a mix of physical keys and touch controls that are easy to use.

This product takes advantage of 8 microphones to offer excellent noise cancellation, includes the aware mode (to amplify external sounds) and provides you with an application - Huawei AI Life - with which to define the intensity of the ANC. We remind you that the app is available on the Google Play Store, AppGallery and will soon arrive on the App Store.

Under the body we also find the Bluetooth 5.2 to connect them to two devices at the same time. But be careful: no cables. You can use them then only wirelessly. This means that when they are flat you will have to recharge them even just to listen to music and that you cannot connect them to the onboard entertainment system on an airplane. But the battery is not bad: they last about 24 hours, which becomes 20 with the activation of the noise cancellation.

We have to accompany them a hard case and perhaps a bit bulky but well made and equipped with a special compartment to store the USB-C cable for charging.

What about the audio quality? It is quite tall. You can easily distinguish the instruments but the sound is not enveloping and the bass tends to disappear from time to time.

The Huawei Freebuds Studio cost €299 and no, there are not a few. Considering the fact that they are wireless only, perhaps you could discount a little bit on the price. However, they have a good battery life, the audio quality is convincing and the noise cancellation is excellent. Just make sure you're ready to give up on the cable.

Sony WH1000X-M4

The best noise canceling headphones: the comparison

Le Sony WH1000X-M4 are among our absolute favorites: complete, high quality, very comfortable in the long run and equipped with comandi soft touch particularly responsive. We also have the physical buttons and a sensor inside that allows them to understand if you are wearing them or not, so as to eventually pause playback.
Then there are other sensors that help the headphones to understand if you are stationary, if you are moving, if the altitude increases and therefore you are on the plane. What are they for? Simple: to understand how automatically adjust the noise cancellation, so they can amplify sounds when you are on the road or cut them off on an airplane. The result, in our opinion, is one of the most satisfactory on the market.

Do not miss the Bluetooth 5.2, to connect them to 2 different devices, and 3,5 mm jack to connect them via cable. The battery lasts a full 30 hours so you can sleep peacefully.

The package also includes a case for transportation. It is rigid and houses everything you need, including the adapter for the plane.

Audio is great: the voices and instruments stand out well and in addition you have the Audio 360 standard. To enjoy them to the fullest, however, we do not recommend using Spotify as it compresses the tracks too much. Instead, experiment with Tidal or Apple Music: you will see that you will notice the difference.

Finally, we point out the presence of the dedicated app, that is Sony Headphones. You can find it for both iOS and Android and it is simple, complete and designed to customize the experience.

Sony WH-1000XM4 are available at  € 380. A nice investment but probably offer the best value for money on the market.

Bose NC 700

The best noise canceling headphones: the comparison

With a few euros more you can also grab the Bose NC 700. You can find them on the market a €399 and come up with an elegant and minimal design. The solution proposed by Bose is based on an arch that becomes gradually thinner, until it merges with the two oval pavilions. Very pleasing to the eye but this prevents them from folding and therefore they take up a little more space. On the other hand, however, you can rotate the pavilions 90 degrees to rest them on your neck when you are not using them.

Build quality is excellent, the headband is in metal, the padding is comfortable and the earpads are in imitation leather. They turn out very light and no, they do not compress the head. You can therefore use them for several hours without difficulty.

On the controls front we have both physical buttons and touch controls, which work by interacting with the surface of the right pavilion. Then we have the USB-C port for charging and a small jack for both cable use.
A small note: the Jack is 3,5mm on one side while the part you plug into the headphones is even smaller so you can't use another cable but you must necessarily use hers.

Obviously not lacking the case: rigid, light, with a card that reminds you how the touch controls work and the space needed for the wiring.

However, the audio cable is not essential. We are talking about Bluetooth headphones with a battery that can go up to a maximum of 40 hours, which drops to 20 with ANC active.

As for the audio performance, the Bose NC 700s do very well: the lows are balanced, the mids are great and the highs are managed well. The listening experience results engaging and immersive.
Perhaps the Sony offer a little more but overall we liked them a lot.

As for noise cancellation, they really do an excellent job and you have more the possibility to choose the level of ANC, from absolute nothing to the highest level. All this using a physical button or the app, Bose Music.

The Bose NC 700s really are a great product. They play on par with Sony but offer a different design. They could be suitable for those who want a slightly more elegant and unusual product without sacrificing quality.

Master & Dynamic MW65

The best noise canceling headphones: the comparison

There are two versions of the Master & Dynamic MW65: the classic one, for sale in €499, and the Lamborghini edition, which costs  € 549. Internally they are the same while the appearance changes to better suit the famous car manufacturer.

We have tried the Lamborghini version, with alcantara and suede lining. They are very comfortable but no touch controls, physical buttons only that work well and are easily found despite their small size.

Less exciting is the case that it actually is a fabric bag with a pocket that can accommodate the cables and the adapter for the plane. It is of excellent workmanship, mind you, but considering the price we would have preferred a rigid case.

Not bad, however, the battery that wanders around 24 hours while the sound that is full and balanced is definitely promoted.

Noise cancellation chapter. It relies on two microphones and 2 modes: High and Low. The result is good but Bose and Sony manage to do better.

The Master & Dynamic MW65 are a good product, excellently rinito e mainly suitable for those who want refinement in materials and who, consequently, are willing to spend more for it.

Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H95

The best noise canceling headphones: the comparison

The latest noise canceling headphones are undoubtedly what they offer the best possible quality on all fronts: design, sound, ANC and drums. However, the cost is really important: for the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H95 you will have to invest  € 800.
But know that it is really worth it.
The H95 are refined and finished in every aspect. The upper headband is in nappa leather, underneath we have some comfortable fabric while the structure is in titanium. The pavilions are large and soft and no, you won't have that head compression feeling.

The controls are brilliant: there are physical ones for ignition, pairing and voice assistant. Then there are the touch ones and finally we find large dials perfectly integrated into the design: the one on the right raises the volume, the one on the left serves to switch from noise cancellation to transparency.
They work both wirelessly, with Bluetooth 5.1, and with the cable.

The case is a bit heavy but with attention to detail and the battery is super: 50 hours of autonomy which drops to 38 with noise cancellation.

The audio is amazing. Bang & Olufsen's noise canceling headphones feature 40mm titanium drivers and reproduce sound flawlessly. The sound is enveloping and creepy. You can feel every single nuance. Really spectacular.

Noise cancellation relies on 4 microphones and the dial lets you switch from the maximum to the average to the awareness mode. To understand which is active, just listen to the beeps that emit when you change modes.

Finally we arrive atWhatsapp. Here, too, nothing is left to chance. The interface is intuitive, the sound profiles have simple names, and the equalizer is easy to use. Also check out noise cancellation, stand-by and updates from here.

€ 800 is not cheap, but the H95s are worth it all. If you are a true audiophile these will surely give you the experience you are looking for.
