Sony patch notes for system update 8.00
Party and Messages Updates
Following this update, Party and Messages will be more closely linked and you will see changes in the user interface. The two apps will now use the same “groups” of players for voice chats and group message exchanges, instead of having different groups configured in the two apps. You can now start a group chat or message the group you previously chatted with on PS4, as well as PS5 when it launched.
New avatars
We are expanding the collection of predefined avatars that players will be able to display on their profile. A range of new avatars from your favorite games will be available including Bloodborne, Journey, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, The Last of Us Part II, The Last of Us Remastered, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, and many more .
Mute all microphones from the quick menu
We've added an option to “Mute all microphones” in the quick menu, so you can easily mute your mics while you play.
Parental control simplified and more flexible
In the context of parental controls, we combine the functions "Communication with other players" and "Display of content created by other players" into a single setting - "Communication and user-generated content" - to cover the two areas of communication and sharing UGC. This provides a simpler setting that is easier for parents to understand and apply to their children.
In addition, children can send a request to their parents to use communication features in specific games. When a child submits this request, the parent will receive an email notification and can choose to make an exception for that game and allow the child to use their UGC communications and features. This will provide more flexibility for parents and children.
Improved two-step verification
The 2-Step Verification (2SV) feature on PS4 will be enhanced to support optional third-party authentication apps during activation flow and 2SV login on PS4, mobile and web.
Removal of the creation of events and the creation of a private community
After 8:00 a.m., you will no longer be able to create events or access existing events created by other users.
We're also removing the ability to create private communities in the Community app on PS4. If you already have private communities, you can continue to access them.
Remote reading app updates on mobile and PC
At the same time as 8:00 am, the existing PS4 Remote Play app on mobile (iOS / Android), Windows PC and Mac, will change its name to PS Remote Play and the option to connect to PS5 will be added. You'll need to sign in to PSN from your PS5 in order to access the feature, so stay tuned until the PS5 launches in November!
Problems with System Update 8.00
After browsing through multiple user accounts on Twitter and Facebook, it looks like the more technical issues this update seems to be causing center around loading friend lists, entering or leaving games, among other things. problems ranging from the loss of online functionality of some games. the way to absolutely break some people's consoles, which can not be considered as common problems. Here are some of the known error codes associated with this update along with the meaning of those error codes:
WS-44369-6
While Sony has not released any formal information regarding this particular error code, this error code appears to be centered on your friends list failing to load. This seems to be the most common problem.
CE-36329-3
This error seems to be centered on the incorrect installation of hardware or software on the console. With all the tweets and messages I have seen regarding this error message, I suggest that this error appears when the system update did not complete successfully or was interrupted during installation. This can cause everything from limited or corrupted functionality to the console brick and Sony should be contacted in case the system cannot automatically fix the issue.
SU-42118-6
This error seems to be centered on how the new system update interacts with hardware, specifically the BRD (Blu-ray player), however, this code has been linked to interactions with other parts of the system, such as network functionality. I feel like this error pops up when there is some kind of harmless problem with the hardware that doesn't reveal itself until the system tries to update a function that uses it because most fixes appear to be related to basic diagnostics and maintenance of a specific part. This will go so far as to prevent the system from being able to update itself to reveal or cause system problems and system functionality issues.
Controversy over voice chat functionality
When the system update was released, people were surprised to find that by joining a group chat or voice chat, their conversations could be recorded and sent for moderation. Although the full update was given above, if you dig a little deeper the initial warning message didn't give as many details, implying for many users that Sony could just record voice conversations for n any reason and at any time. Their concerns were so great that people equated it to wiretapping. These voice chat updates will also include features applicable to the PlayStation 5 when it releases in November.
however, according to a recently released official Sony statement, the change was made to strengthen the Community Rules with the aim of making chatting on Sony consoles safer for everyone by allowing users to record voice chat from their users. 'another user and submit it as part of a reporting process that already exists for text violations. Catherine Jensen, vice president of Global Consumer Experience, clarifies that this feature will never be used to actively monitor voice chat through any of their consoles and apologizes for not explaining more clearly what it is about in patch notes. They also wanted to state that there is currently no option to opt out of this feature.
