Look atcles, the special glasses of Snapchat with integrated camera, they arrived in Italy in early June. Obviously, we could only tell you how we found each other in the video review found at the top of this article.
Spectacles have been designed to work great with Snapchat but nothing prevents you from exporting the videos produced with these glasses and then using them elsewhere (on any other social network).
What Snapchat is and how it works
For those unfamiliar Snapchat, here's a little review. It is a social network (you will surely have seen the yellow logo somewhere characterized by a white ghost) very popular among the very young that allows you to share content flash. So far everything is normal except that the photos and videos you have shared will only be available for 24 hours. When the time runs out, the "snaps" will disappear into thin air.
In case you didn't know, Instagram Stories is a pretty good copy of Snapchat.
Specatcles: how are they made?
Spectacles are available in a only kind of design which, said with great sincerity, is suitable for many types of face. I let a multitude of friends try them and I must say that they gave to practically everyone. The build quality is really excellent and you don't have the feeling of having a plasticky product in your hands. The lenses, however, are not polarized to keep costs down. Spectacles are available in 3 different colors: black, teal and coral. The first, black, in my opinion is the most wearable, the other two, although they are really beautiful, are a bit showy.
Inside the package, in addition to the sunglasses, you will find a hard case that contains a battery that can recharge the Spectacles (it is a real powerbank), a magnetic charging cable and a cloth to clean Snapchat's ghost-shaped lenses. All the components that you will find in the package are of excellent workmanship and do not give the idea of a cheap product.
Spectacles: technical characteristics
Snapchat sunglasses contain inside a camera capable of capturing videos in full HD with a size of 1080 × 1080 at 60 fps in a circular format. You got it right, i videos are round and unfortunately included within a white square.
To be clear, the effect is this.
This happens when you export the videos from Snapchat for use on any other platform.
If, on the other hand, you share the videos on its native platform (i.e. Snapchat), this will be the effect.
To record, just press the only button you will find on the glasses and Specacles will automatically record a 10-second video. If you press a second time you will record a snap of 20 seconds and a third time, 30 seconds. However, every single snap will not be able to last for more than 30 seconds.
Once the recording has started, two indicator lights will signal that you are recording: an external one that warns those in front of you that you are in "rec mode" and an internal one that you can see out of the corner of your eye to understand when the seconds are about to expire. available.
La Spectacles video quality is really great in optimal light conditions; instead they suffer a little when you find yourself in low light conditions.
However, there is a small problem when it comes to resolution: the videos will be in Full HD when used by the Snapchat app; half resolution instead when you export the videos.
To give you a concrete example of the resolution, below you can find a vlog ad Amsterdam recorded entirely with Spectacles. Obviously, to get rid of that annoying white border, I was forced to create a small matte.
Here is the result.
In addition to the camera, the temples of the glasses also contain one small battery capable of recording 60 snaps. After which they will need to be put in charge: to be able to do so, just put them back in the hard case and wait half an hour.
With regard to the internal memory instead it is not known exactly what the storage capacity is: for sure, Spectacles can contain ben 200 snap before being emptied through the Snapchat app.
During the vlog recorded in Amsterdam, every two by three I had to put them in charge mainly because the use was pretty intense.
Spectacles: what are they for
Basically nothing in particular. They are a simple and pure fun that allows you to get a different point of view than usual, recreating immersive situations but above all leaving your hands free. They are very easy to use (just press the button on the glasses) and are slightly frustrating when you have to export the files (but nothing too big, you can survive anyway).
Personally, when I don't want to shoot anything with Spectacles' camera, I use them like normal sunglasses. So in any case, they have their own use.
If you don't like Snapchat, forget it because these glasses certainly won't make you want to use it. But if you are a geek like me, I'm sure you will fall in love with it at the first touch of the register button.
There are two ways to buy Specacles: the first is in person, at a Snapbot (a Spectales vending machine), otherwise you can go directly to the company's website and buy them for the price of 149,99.
