For the second consecutive year, the world's largest comic book fair will not be held in the summer to comply with the pandemic distancing rules. But the Comic-Con of San Diego in 2021 it returns in an unreleased autumn version: the organizers have announced a three-day weekend in attendance on the occasion of Thanksgiving.
Comic-Con San Diego 2021: back in attendance, but in the fall
Non-profit Comic-Con International, which organizes the event awaited by all fans of the comic (including cosplayers and lovers of Marvel and DC films), announced on Saturday that it aims to organize a three-day weekend in November. No webcams and video meetings: Comic-Con returns to San Diego and in attendance. To be exact, the dates correspond to 26, 27 and 28 November, on the occasion of Thanksgiving in America, when fans would then have a weekend off to fly to California.
The official announcement states that: “Since the timing and size of our big event were essential in deciding to postpone it, we believe that launching a more contained and later on in attendance event can be a safe alternative. For this reason we are pleased to announce that San Diego Comic Convention is planning a live event in San Diego in November. At this time, we are still deciding the details on the number of people admitted, the entrance fees and related information. These details will come soon ”.
A contained alternative for the comic book event of the year
San Diego Comic-Con attracts every year more than 130 thousand people on the California Coast. And it generates hundreds of millions of dollars in related assets for the city, as well as tens of millions for the organizers. Having an event in attendance, even if small, could be fundamental from an economic point of view.

However, those who bought a ticket for the canceled 2020 fair will have to wait even longer: those tickets are in fact valid for the 2022 summer convention, not for that of this year. However, the organization is finding ways to enforce those purchases even in the November event, albeit in a limited version.
