Over the past few weeks we have had the opportunity to try it first hand Rog Zephyrus M16, a gaming laptop Asus high-end that promises great performance in a compact and portable format. Our test left us very satisfied and today we are ready to tell you about it in our Rog Zephyrus M16 review.
Rog Zephyrus M16: our review
Let's start immediately with an element that immediately struck us once the device was extracted from the box: that is the small size of the laptop, despite the great quality of the individual components that define the offer.
To enhance this design choice even more we find a screen capable of tilting up to 180 degrees, in such a way as to adapt to our every need during use. The sector dedicated to connectivity, complete with a myriad of ports at our disposal.
In addition to the jack dedicated to the charger we find an HDMI video output, a USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 2, an Ethernet port, a USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, a USB Type-C with Thunderbolt 4 support, and a combo audio jack 3,5mm.
On the other side of the device, however, there is a microSD card reader and a second USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 port.
Display and keyboard
Immediately after the successful design choices we could not help but appreciate the display of this laptop, which is undoubtedly to be counted among its main strengths. 2560 × 1600 pixels with response time of 3 ms.
We then have a maximum brightness of 500 Nits and a refresh rate of 165 Hz. There is also full support for the sRGB color range and a anti-glare treatment in 16 format: 10; in short, everything you could want from a display.
We must signal that there is also a webcam, a design element not always implemented in Rog laptops, but that we were pleased to see included in the package.
The keyboard instead aroused mixed feelings in us, given that on the one hand it serves the purpose, on the other we found it a little too uncomfortable for everyday use, also thanks to the absence of a numeric keypad.
In the upper part, however, we find four special keys, one to activate and deactivate the microphone, two to raise or lower the volume and one to start the suite Armory Crate for system configuration. The trackpad is also excellent and responsive, made of glass.
Audio and Autonomy
As for the audio part Rog Zephyrus M16 fit two speaker high frequency that really left us a very good impression in the review, as it also has four speakers, two dedicated to high frequencies and two to low ones.
Thanks to this foresight, the PC is able to guarantee a good audio performance, even if the use with headphones remains, as often, far superior in these cases.
As far as autonomy is concerned, this stands between six and eight hours, which if we consider the large energy consumption of what is under the body, it is a great result. Unfortunately here we have to point out that the fans are extremely noisy, probably to be able to keep up with the performance of the PC.
The performances
Under the body of this gaming laptop we find a processor Intel Core i9-11900H, and with a base frequency of 2,5 GHz. As for the GPU, this guarantees a maximum dynamic frequency of 1,45 GHz and 32 execution units.
The real turning point of the laptop however is definitely there Nvidia Geforce RTX 3070, a video card that guarantees truly top-level performance, with a frequency of 1.345 MHz at 100 W e 8 GB of GDDR6 memory dedicated.
To all this are added 32 GB of RAM, which guarantees extremely fast loading of games and applications; this also thanks toM.2 NVMe SSD PCIE 4.0 is 2 ALSO.
