Some PS5s on the market are way too loud, gamers complain. Still, most units are much quieter than the PS4. To understand where the problem comes from, a user decided to disassemble the Sony console. He managed to find a very simple solution to his problem.
As we told you in our test of the PS5, the console is particularly quiet. Thanks to its imposing design, the home console does not heat up (too much) even after several hours of play. De facto, the noise generated by the fans is imperceptible.
Unfortunately, some of the consoles released aren't that quiet. Numerous testimonies appearing on social networks claim that their PS5 generates too much noise. On the Resetera forum, Internet users mainly complain about the noise of the fans and the coil. Like some PC graphics cards, the console coil would make a shrill hum.

A sticker was stuck in the fans of the PS5
Frank_Supercell, a Twitter user who managed to get their hands on a PS5, encountered a similar noise issue. “The fan noise started from the start and continues after. Version with disc. Can be heard throughout the apartment ”explains the surfer.
Rather than send the console back to Sony, the man decided to open the beast in an attempt to find the source of the malfunction. Armed with a screwdriver, the Internet user has disassembled the fan housing of the PlayStation 5 after removing the 4 screws. He quickly discovered the cause of the loud noises generated by the console: a simple sticker was apparently stuck in the blades.
If you find that your PS5 is making too much noise, a sticker may have entered the fan. At this time, it is not known whether the problem with all excessively loud units is caused by a sticker. Obviously, we do not advise you to disassemble your PlayStation 5. The process irreparably breaks the manufacturer's warranty. In the event of a persistent problem, you are advised to contact Sony customer service instead.
