You would think that Pokémon Go can be played by everyone when you see the number of players having the game, but it is not. Indeed, people with old smartphones running Jelly Bean cannot enjoy the game, fortunately there is a method to play it anyway.
Despite what you might think Pokémon Go is not available to everyone, indeed the game is not made to be compatible only from Android 4.4 alias KitKat. Suddenly some people cannot play it, it can be the case of your little cousin who has an old smartphone but who would like to play Pokémon Go too.
Fortunately, as often on Android there is a solution, indeed a developer has slightly modified the APK allowing him to install it on smartphones with at least Jelly Bean, and here is the procedure to follow.
How to install and play on an old Android smartphone
First of all the first step is to download the APK to this address or this one. Then you have to install it, for that you have to activate the unknown sources in the security settings. Then go to the file explorer, go to the file where the APK is located (usually Donwload), then install there.
You might think it stops there, except that with this version impossible to play with your Google account, you will have to create a “Pokémon Trainers Club” account, you can do it now by going to this address.

Now you have to enter your Trainers Club account and you will be able to indulge yourself in the joys of Pokémon Go. You should know that there may be some GPS problems, for that you have to better activate everything in the geolocation, ie both GPS but also location via Wifi and mobile network. To do this, go to settings, then “Location data” and activate “Location via Wifi and mobile network”.
