To reach Chestnut Valley, just jump off the big bridge over Autumn Mountain. Normally you can't jump ledges in Paper Mario, but this bridge is an exception. You will need Bobby to help you open the door to the Water Vellumental Sanctuary - to open the door you need two pairs of feet! Mario can't do it alone, and Olivia can't help, so Bobby is your only option. Let's go after the little guy together.

Chestnut Valley Walkthrough
We have a goal - to unlock the Water Vellumental Sanctuary, we have to ask Bobby Bob-Bomb to help us. He's lost somewhere in Chestnut Valley. Let's go find it.
- Collectible treasure: Sturdy Crates - Right next to where you land in the Chestnut Valley. Look for this chest in the foreground!
Quest: Find Bobby the Bob-Bomb
To find Bobby, we must fully explore the valley. As you go up the ramps you will have to avoid an endless stream of spiked chestnuts. Use the alcoves on the ramps to prevent their two nuts from rolling side by side. As you go up, the ramp will become smaller - it's not impossible! Under the ledge, look for a cracked wall. Smash the cracked section with your hammer to create a second alcove.
At the top, go down to the ledge of the treasure chest and clear Bobby Bob-Bomb. Don't miss the treasure!
- Collectible treasure: Sign - Right on the ledge where you find Bobby Bob-Bomb. Go down from the top of the chestnut ramps to reach it.
- Hidden Toad # 102-104: At the top of the Chestnut ramps, hit the tree several times until a chestnut tree falls containing three hidden toads.
Continue through the falling chestnuts - wait for the leaves to rustle to avoid the spikes! Run away if you have to. On the other side, you will be ambushed by a new type of enemy.
- How to beat Galoombas: These new walnut-sized Goombas are more resilient, but they have a weakness. Jump on their heads to knock them down, and they won't be able to attack for a turn.
- Collectible treasure: Spinning Shells - Located near the first save point in Chestnut Valley.
Along the way, Bobby will be knocked out - again - and you'll have to fight more of Galoombas. Remember that jumping on them will flip them over and stun them for one turn. Ahead you will enter a maze of thorny nuts. Pull the Galoombas to the right, then walk past them on the left! On the ramp in front of you, more spikes will roll, so hammer the cracked wall to create a safe spot.
To save Bobby, reach the top of this last ramp and drop into the foreground. There is a green pipe leading to the ledge - ambush Goomba and hit the tree to save Bobby! Or… not quite. Bobby comes back downstairs.
Walk back past the Spiked Chestnuts to the save point, then back up the ramps to the tree stump near the exit to Chestnut Valley. Finally! Bobby is right there. Defeat the Galoombas, then hit Bobby with your hammer to get him back to your team.
Quest: Unlock the Vellumental Water Sanctuary
Now we can unlock this shrine! Return to Autumn Mountain through the Chestnut Valley exit and tear off the sticker blocking the door. Stop at the bench near the sensor desk and quickly make your way to the gate of the shrine.
