If you want to place first in as many races as possible during the Mario Kart Tour, understanding the controls is essential. Although they can get used to it a bit, they work surprisingly well.

The first thing to understand is that there is no need to speed up. Your kart will automatically descend onto the track and go in a straight line if no other direction is entered at that time.
To go left and right, slide your finger across the screen and your kart will turn in the direction you move your finger. You can use the items you picked up during the race by tapping on the screen just below your kart. Just browse the boxes to get items and then tap the screen to use them.
You can throw items up or down the course, depending on who you want to hit. Just swipe up to throw the item in front of you or down to kill it behind you.
You can also change your direction options from the menu. It is worth experimenting with different options until you find the best combination that works for you.

- Scroll down to the control method and choose your preferred option

- Smart steering - there is always steering assistance, but this will increase the amount
