The full opening chapter of the Outriders and the Four Classes is available to play in the demo.
Outriders demo features the game's full first chapter, from slower prologue to gritty brown * DISCLOSURE * what follows. The main story itself will take you around 2-3 hours, and there are 4 side quests that will extend your playtime by an hour.
Additionally, all four classes - Technomancer, Pyromancer, Trickster, and Devastator - are playable in the demo. You also have 6 character slots, so you are free to try all four classes without having to remove anyone. This is quite important, as the progress of the demo continues into the full game (as long as you buy Outriders in the same ecosystem as the demo).
These are the two major highlights, but there are a few more notes worth considering. The Outriders demo is also available:
- A maximum level of 7
- World level 5 limit (Outriders are constantly evolving and increasing, difficulty level)
- Armor and weapon sellers
- Legendary weapon drops
- Crafting Materials (Crafting will unlock in the full game)
- Three abilities per class
- Two skill points per class
- Full multiplayer co-op (to include cross play, which must be enabled in settings)
- Character customization outside of character creation
- Knowledge journals
- Emoticons
Since everything in the demo will carry over to the full game (again, as long as you're playing both in the same platform ecosystem), you can use this time to cap whatever is available and get yourself a mighty legendary or two. There is no time limit for the demo, and it will remain available to play even after launch. So if you're on the fence about the Outriders, this demo is a great way to see if the game is for you or not. My two cents: Even if you leave unhappy, it's good to see a developer re-adopting proper demos for this very reason. Hopefully the Outriders demo is the start of a larger trend.
