In Hyper Scape, there are two main types of weapon upgrades. Size and damage. Their names are pretty self-explanatory, but how to best use each of them and what weapon style might be best for you might take a bit more digging.
Magsize
The magsize upgrade increases the amount of bullets your weapon can hold in a single turn. This style of upgrade is useful for a multitude of reasons, but the top three benefits are:
- Decreased the chance of having to reload between firing and killing enemy teammates in squads.
- Gives new players leeway, if you don't hit all the punches you do, there's even more ammo where it comes from.
- Upgrading the Magsize style gives you the better of both at level 4, also giving your weapon a slight damage boost.
Overall, the magsize upgrades are well balanced and offer a fair amount of forgiveness.
Damage
The damage buff increases the potency of each shot. Unlike magsize weapons, these weapons have their fixed mag size and won't even go up to level 4. But the best perks are:
- Head damage increases even more than bodily damage. If you have a tight target, the damage increases with a long way.
- If you are using the Protocol V sniper rifle with a level 4 upgrade, a headshot will be a one-hit knockout. It is the only weapon currently capable of this.
- In solos, when you often focus your energy on a single opponent, the extra firepower can be more useful than the extra bullets.
With these guns you really have to know how to fire your shot, but if you do, the shot is lethal.
Two main types of upgrades, even more weapons to choose from. At the end of the day, they're just pointers. Everyone will find a weapon and upgrade style that works best for them, but if you're new to the genre, maybe try the magsize upgrade weapons first.
