Lost or Missing Photos on iPhone: What to Do

Check the Recently Deleted folder

If we have accidentally deleted a photo or video we need to check the folder Recently deleted. Let's see how to do it together.

1. Let's open the app Gallery;
2. Let's move into the section Album;
3. Let's open the folder Recently deleted.

In this folder are all photos and videos recently deleted from our Apple device. If we find the photo we were looking for we can retrieve it to view it within all the photos.

1. Let's touch the voice Select;
2. We select the photos or videos we wish to recover;
3. We select the option Recover;
4. We confirm that you want to recover the photos or videos.

Use the iCloud Photo Library

Thanks to the ICloud Photo Library we can keep all our photos and videos safe. In this way we can have all the photos synchronized on all Apple devices. Thanks to this feature, if for example we take a photo with our iPad, we will also find it on our iPhone.

So if we took a photo with an Apple device and we don't find it on our iPhone, let's check that the iCloud Photo Library feature is turned on.

1. We open the Settings;
2. We select the name of our account;
3. We select the item iCloud;
4. At this point we enable the option ICloud Photo Library.

If we use iOS 10.2 or earlier we have to follow a slightly different procedure.

1. We open the Settings;
2. We select the item iCloud;
3. At this point we enable the option ICloud Photo Library.

After activating this function, let's connect to a Wi-Fi network and wait a few minutes. Once this is done, we look for our photos again.

Show Photos

If we hide photos or videos, they are transferred to the album Hidden. For this reason we may have forgotten that we have hidden some photos or videos.

1. Let's open the app Gallery;
2. Let's move into the section Album;
3. Let's go into the album Hidden;
4. We visualize the photo or video to show;
5. We select the icon Share;
6. At this point we click on Show.

Remember that if we have activated the iCloud Photo Library function on all other Apple devices, the hidden photos are also hidden on the other devices.

Sign in with the same Apple ID

In order for all of our photos and videos to be synced across all of our devices, we need to be sure to sign in with it same Apple ID. It might seem like a trivial thing, but many times we don't find photos and videos because we are logged in with different accounts.

To view the Apple ID with which we are logged in we need to open the Settings and our username will be displayed under your username email, which is our Apple ID.
