Marvel demonstrates its support for the LGBTQ + community for Pride Month in the nerdier way possible: with a easter egg in a trailer for a TV series. In fact in the latest teaser for Loki it turns out who the villain is gender fluid, a fact already seen in comics (as well as in Norse mythology).
Loki, the MCU's first gender fluid character
Already in the Norse myth, the God of Deception Loki was never a uniquely male deity. In some myths becomes a woman for years, assuming a feminine form. Those who wrote the Norse myths did not yet know gender fluidity but it is clear that the character did not conform to a binary gender identity: Loki was a gender fluid anti-litteram.
So it is not surprising that the VAT, the agency that controls all timelines in the Marvel universe and which has therefore analyzed every detail of the life of the divinity, in its tab write "fluid" next to "sex". You can see it (squinting a bit) in this video tweeted from the official Disney + series account.
In the comics Loki was a Lady
Over the years, Loki has taken on the role of Lady Loki, its female version. Sometimes with another person's body, sometimes changing one's own. And since from the trailers it seems that the TV series will jump between different timelines to show us the best incarnations of the anti-hero Marvel, we expect to see Lady Loki at work. With Kid Loki, the Loki candidate in the elections and many other versions. The president of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige has promised that the MCU will be increasingly inclusive and the arrival of the first gender fluid character in Pride Month is certainly a good start. Although it remains to be seen how much we will discover about this aspect of Loki. We just have to watch the series on Disney +.
