Apple unveiled iOS 15 at the WWDC conference in June, and the operating system has been in beta testing for developers and the public ever since. With September just around the corner, the official release of the latest iPhone software is close and we know for sure it will include a brand new Safari, Focus mode, FaceTime SharePlay, Live Text, redesigned notifications, background sounds and more. Said this, when is iOS 15 released?
When does iOS 15 come out?
The major annual iOS releases traditionally come later Apple's September event. Although the release date of iOS 15 has not been publicly announced, we can look back, to the last few years, to get a general idea of when the Cupertino company is likely to finally make the new operating system available.
Historically speaking, Apple always released the most up-to-date versions of iOS about a week after its September event, but in 2020 there was an exception to the rule, as the company officially launched iOS 14 just one day after the Time Flies event.
If Apple intends to honor the tradition of holding its event in the second week of September with the release of the unreleased operating system a few days later, then we could expect the release of iOS 15 as early as September 15th.
If, on the other hand, Apple decides to move its event to the end of the month, in this case iOS 15 could arrive on our iPhones much later, in late autumn or even in winter. However, what seems certain for now is that Apple plans to release iOS 14.8 before its September event.
It is very unlikely that the system update will be postponed to 2022, however, given that the optimization work on the various features should be at an already advanced stage.
