Huawei Watch Fit recensione
Watch Fit is the new smartwatch that Huawei has embellished with every possible sensor for sport and health. Not only that: he also thought of some tailor-made training to transform his lightweight smartwatch into a trainer to keep on the wrist. As if that weren't enough, he decided to sell it to 20 euros less than the official price of Fitbit Charge 4, its natural rival. Huawei is aiming for the title of best affordable sport watch. Can he win? We trained with the Watch Fit on the wrist for a few weeks to figure it out.
Nice and light
The unboxing of Huawei Watch Fit has struck us positively: the silicone strap immediately reveals the sporting nature of the device and it rectangular screen is large, like a real smartwatch (even if the features are more like a fitness band). By lifting the clock the amazement increased: weighs only 21g. Put the watch on your wrist you barely feel it, a few minutes and you will forget you are wearing it.
The screen is a AMOLED from 1,64 inches, with HD resolution from 280 × 456 and 326 ppi. The colors are particularly vivid and by changing the “faces” you can fully appreciate the graphic quality of the display. It's not always-on but it is screen wakes up if you raise your wrist to look at the time or one of the statistics. This feature is not perfect, it can happen that you turn your wrist without it turning on. However, it seemed to us the exception and not the rule: we were satisfied with it.
One button on the right side, very discreet but solid and well functioning. The whole is aesthetically beautiful, with a different strap it could become a stylish smartwatch to wear to dinner. But don't be fooled: Huawei Watch Fit is designed for sport.

Huawei Watch Fit: the battery
The battery according to Huawei should last up to 10 days. But this can only happen if you don't use GPS and sleep tracking. In our experience, even using both sensors regularly, you won't need to recharge Watch Fit more than twice a week. We understood twice that we were warned halfway through that only 5% of the battery remained but the smartwatch lasted all the way home. We are satisfied with the battery life.
The charging cable has a magnetic attack. However, the seal seemed solid to us, the recharging was quite fast.
Huawei Watch Fit : i comandi
Browsing the features on the Huawei Watch Fit really is intuitive and simple. The button on the right side allows you to access the menu with the various applications (there are only those of Huawei, no Spotify or Waze). From here you can start a workout or check your stats, rather than just one-touch tracking heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, stress, or read the notifications received. You can also set an alarm, a timer or a stopwatch, check the weather, activate the flashlight and activate the “find my phone” function.
A swipe downwards allows you to access the settings, with some dedicated buttons to activate the night mode or for find the paired smartphone. An upward swipe reveals the notifications, which you can only see: messages or calls cannot be answered, they are just warnings. A swipe to the right or left shows the logs of the various health sensors. You can customize which stats to see: We found it comfortable to have an eye on the activity log, heart rate and sleep tracking.
Sleep, stress and movement recording
By the way: the sleep tracking seemed to us to be very accurate. The only sore point is that one morning of particularly restless sleep we happened to reactivate the screen by mistake by moving our arm. It cannot be ruled out that a future update will also solve this problem, which has arisen on only one occasion. The alarm clock with snooze is very discreet and comfortable.
Il stress detection provides an initial questionnaire, with some questions about how you feel that you have to answer while the Huawei Watch Fit records your heartbeat. Initially skeptical, we were impressed with the detections. The graph showed us an increase in stress during the working day at times when we had an imminent delivery, to decrease after the article was published. Watch Fit also has a number of guided breathing exercises, which seemed to us well done.
During particularly long sessions sitting at the desk, a vibration calls towards the Watch Fit screen: "Plastic! ". You can choose to ignore the request, if instead you agree to do some activity the smartwatch guides you in one short set of exercises of active stretching and muscle activation. This seemed to us a useful and minimally invasive idea: if you are in the middle of a videoconference you can simply ignore the call.
Huawei Watch Fit: sports activity tracking
This smartwatch can detect 96 different sports activities. We have tried several to take away the whim to understand how they work. But we had the opportunity to test only a few of them in depth: running, cycling, various workouts in the gym and swimming.
At the base of all these different monitoring is the heart rate monitor, on which Huawei has done a great job. The beat detection is accurate both at rest and during exercise, even in the water (holds up to 5 atmospheres). Function too SpO2, which detects the amount of oxygen in the blood, works really well and activates itself when you do cardio activities that exceed ten minutes.
Race and bike
GPS is quite accurate if you run or cycle for pleasure, even if professional cyclists and runners will have to spend a little more and get a specialized product. Huawei Watch Fit notifies you of every kilometer you have run. However, it happened to us that on the same route on two different days he signaled us the first kilometer in two different points. A difference of about ten meters. We also noticed that when making sharp turns the GPS does not read movement and the Watch Fit shows a drop in pace. Nothing really problematic: Reading the statistics on the watch is easy even in the race and is overall accurate. Too bad you can't save music or podcasts on the smartwatch but only control playback from your smartphone.
Fitness centre
In the gym we tried different monitoring: that for functional workouts, for physical activity in general, for the core and for HIIT exercises. However, the findings are similar: the heartbeat indicates to Huawei Watch Fit the effort you are making, translating into calories burned and calculating recovery times. It seemed less useful than during the race but this is a criticism that can be extended to all "generalist" sports watches. The movements in the gym are complex, a smartband struggles to analyze them.
Swimming
On the other hand, it is excellent for swimming. Just set the size of the tub (in our case 25m) to get all the statistics you want. You can also set goals to achieve (convenient if you swim bottom and don't want to count the laps) or indicate the length of the fractions if you do the repetitions. You impressed us positively.
Huawei Watch Fit sells a personal trainer
Huawei's new smartwatch has 12 quick training sessions, with 44 demonstrations of movements. The large screen is particularly convenient for these functions. If you are stretching a vibration warns you when the time of the stretch is over, if you are doing the abdominals Watch Fit counts the number of repetitions. We have made little use of this function, but it can come back very useful for those who train at home.
Huawei Health: our experience with the app
Watch Fit's spacious screen allows you to little look at the application on your phone: once you have registered the device and set the notifications you want to receive, you could almost forget about Huawei Health. However, the application is really well done. The main screen highlights steps and calories, and then shows all the parameters that can be registered with Huawei smart products. From heart rate to weight to sleep, each value has its own statistics and tables.
Exercise is reported on a separate tab for data analysis. If you want to look at the route taken by running, detailing every change of pace, you will find everything in one place. Those who do not play sports for their profession cannot wish for anything better.

Huawei Watch Fit review: buy it or not?
The new sports smartwatch Huawei ci made a very good impression. Anyone who wants a "real" smartwatch, which can answer messages and calls and which has full apps, has to look somewhere else (starting here). Those looking for a fitness band that can also receive notifications, should take the Watch Fit seriously.
Performance for running, cycling and swimming is excellent. The only real flaw is the lack of memory to save a playlist or podcast from Spotify. If this feature is essential for you you can consider the Fitbit Charge 4. If it is not essential, Huawei Watch Fit costs 20 euros less and has nothing to envy.
