If the idea is so brilliant, why hasn't anyone thought about it yet? “Because it requires too many resources in research and development,” the project manager told us. "And we at Huawei, we have these resources and we wanted to make the most of them to show that it can be done". In short, there is a great desire to flex your muscles.
With a total of 4 rear cameras newly developed in collaboration with Leica, Huawei P30 Pro he really wants to tarmac the competition. But let's see in detail all the sensors:
- 40mm 27MP main sensor, f / 1.6 aperture and optical stabilizer
- 20MP 16mm ultra-wide angle sensor, f / 2.2 aperture
- 5mm 8MP f / 3.4 125x optical zoom sensor
The last and fourth sensor - TOF (Time of Flight) - is separated from the rest of the photographic sector and acts as a "service" camera (not selectable from the menu) that allows you to calculate the depth and thus obtain an increasingly realistic bokeh effect and less "digital" ... even in video mode.
Let's spend a few more words on the zoom. Alongside the 5X optical zoom we find a 10X hybrid zoom and hear, hear also a 50X digital zoom.
In short, the new camera of Huawei P30 PRO it is capable of ranging from 16 up to 270 mm with simple taps on the screen but above all freehand.
Obviously there is no lack of night mode: a long exposure which is nothing but an HDR mode. The smartphone takes several photographs with different exposures and finally - through the artificial intelligence of Kirin 980 - combines the photos into a single and often suggestive shot.
To be improved, are also the Backlit portraits thanks to HDR10 support. From the demos showing in the conference the result seems extraordinary. However, we will only be able to confirm this after our review.
Finally, on the front we find a camera with a 32 MP sensor, a very “Chinese” choice.

First of all, let's start from the aesthetics that are transformed getting closer and closer to forms of Huawei Mate 20 Pro: The 6,47-inch display now curves on both sides, a dual edge that favors the ergonomics of the product. The notch becomes a small circle that hides the 32 MP front camera. The ear capsule disappears which is replaced by a sound transmission system directly from the display.
