After prolonged use of Huawei P20 Pro, I'm ready to tell you how the super smartphone from Huawei is doing. So don't miss ours video review (found at the beginning of this article) of one of the best cameraphone currently available on the market.
But let's start from the beginning, Huawei P20 and P20 Pro were officially announced on March 27, 2018 in Paris during a mega Huawei-style press conference.
A long press conference in which all the features of this smartphone that aims to revolutionize mobile photography (also because by now smartphones seem to be increasingly destined to replace compact cameras) have been unraveled.
Between the two versions, we have been testing the older brother for quite some time Huawei P20 Pro, the smartphone that best embodies this "revolution" thanks to the unusual triple camera re-developed in collaboration with Leica.

- Operating system: EMUI 8.1 interface with Android Oreo 8.1;
In short, the set of technical features sported by this Huawei P20 Pro they are from real top of the range.
Design e touch and feel
The design of this device does not represent anything new: rounded shapes, glass backpanel but with a fairly plasticky feeling and metal frame. I have always kept it in pockets without keys or other "dangerous" objects. Despite this, I managed to scrutinize it backpanel which in my opinion is a bit delicate.
The backpanel has a not excellent oleophobic treatment, in fact you will find yourself full of unsightly fingerprints. My advice is to buy a cover to protect it better. Better transparent so as not to cover the fantastic colors available (blue, black and twilight)
Il 6.1-inch display features the notch, or the infamous notch (loved and hated by users) not yet optimized. In fact, with some apps - such as Instagram - it conflicts a bit. In short, there are the same problems that arose when the new 18: 9 format was introduced. But fear not, these optimization problems should disappear with the arrival of the new version of the operating system Android P.
If you are one of those who hate the notch, you can easily hide it through the software obscure from the settings menu.
Always talking about the notch, in order to reduce it as much as possible, Huawei has opted for a very small and circular ear capsule. Unfortunately, this solution means that when you answer the phone, it can often happen that you do not center your ear with the capsule that is off-centered. It will seem to you that you have become deaf, in reality you have not accurately performed the centering between the ear and the capsule. A real shame, because in the long run it turns out to be a bit boring.
Let's talk about performance
The services offered by processor with artificial intelligence Kirin 970 are really at the top. No slowdown (of any kind) even with many apps open at the same time.
La battery from 4000 mAh it made me arrive until late afternoon with a very intense use. Let's just say that aggressive optimization (when compared to that of other manufacturers) produces its very good effect. Although you will often have to go and interact with the app settings manually if you need some of the apps to continue working in the background.
Speaking of performance, it is impossible not to make a small mention of EMUI offered by Huawei, interface now ugly and not very modern. I really don't understand why it is not renewed in favor of something more pleasant and in line with the terrific performance of this one. Huawei P20 Pro.
Triple camera what a passion!
The triple camera of the Huawei P20 Pro developed again in collaboration with LEICA is truly a bomb. Super high quality photos take thanks to two 40 MP RGB and 20 MP black and white sensors. When, on the other hand, you will need to use the zoom you can rely on the third 8 MP sensor.
But you will tell me: but I never zoom in on it. And this is where you are wrong. The photos with the zoom can give great satisfaction in terms of image rendering. Take a look here.
Here is an example of two shots: the one on the left shot without zoom and the other shot with 3x optical zoom. Both photographs have not been edited. You can see for yourself the differences between the two shots.
[
If that's not enough. I show you another example in which you can clearly see how powerful the zoom is but above all able to return faithful images without smudging this thanks also to the powerful optical stabilizer.
In this case I show you a photo without zoom and one with 5x hybrid zoom.
[
Let's talk now about the night mode of this Huawei P20 Pro able to leave virtually everyone speechless.
[
To analyze these two photographs I would ask you to focus mainly on the "clouds". The ones on the left look like a car, while in the ones on the right the texture is clearly distinguished. But what is it about it special the mode of Huawei 20 Pro? It takes a 4-second shot that can be easily done freehand without the need for a tripod (once again the optical stabilizer intervenes). Really impressive.
Huawei P20 Pro: beautiful, performing but not perfect
Summing up a bit about this Huawei P20 Pro, I would like to say that it is a really good phone, with a “normal” design, top performance, really durable battery and with a camera that leaves no doubt about its real capabilities.
Perhaps I would have expected fewer imperfections, fewer smudges. We agree that 899 euros is the common lowest price offered by the market (if we consider the price of the iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy S9 +), but we are still talking about 899 euros.
In short, if you like taking pictures with your smartphone and you hardly ever want to take a camera with us around, Huawei P20 Pro represents the best solution offered by the market right now.
