In Hyper Scape, all items other than melee weapons can be upgraded by locating a duplicate of the item on the map and merging them. While many weapon upgrades focus on damage, the stat most often affected by a hack upgrade is cooldown.
Most hacks will never get stronger, but being able to use a hack faster can make the difference in a battle. There are currently 10 hacks in the game, each with its own initial cooldown. (Armor, Revelation, Bullet, Wall, Mine, Slam, Shockwave, Teleportation, Invisibility and Healing)
The strength of the mine hack will increase in damage at level 4. It is the only hack that has a stat other than cooldown affected, although Shockwave and Ball can also be used offensively, their damage never goes up.
Image via UbisoftThe hack with the longest standard cooldown is Reveal at 14 seconds. The hack that can scan where enemies are, even through walls. At level 4, the cooldown is only nine seconds.
The hack with the shortest standard cooldown is Shockwave at nine seconds. This creates a blast of energy damaging and propelling all targets within range. At level 4, the cooldown is only four seconds.
All other hacks go from 12 seconds to seven at level 4, or from ten seconds to five.
