With the removal of nearly 2 dozen game reveals from the PlayStation Future of Gaming press conference, Xbox will now aspire to do the same with its next event, dubbed “Xbox Games Showcase”. Best of all, the showcase will be live very soon, as it will be streaming across multiple social platforms later in July.
When is the event?
The latest Xbox reveal will take place on July 23 at 9:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. ET and 17:00 p.m. BST.
How to watch the event?
Xbox's Twitter account has several ways to watch the event. For those who wish, they can watch from the following platforms:
Before the event begins, fans can also listen to a pre-show intro, hosted by Geoff Keighley, at 8 a.m. PT, 11 a.m. ET and 16 p.m. BST, on The Game Awards YouTube channel.
What will it cover?
Being named "Xbox Games Showcase," it's likely the focus will be on proprietary Xbox Series X games, like Halo: Infinite and Hellblade 2. With a collection of Xbox-owned studios working on undisclosed projects, this won't. will come as no surprise if the reveal predicts a handful of new exclusive IPs coming to Series X soon. It doesn't appear, however, that Xbox will replicate and reveal a collection based on first-party stories, like PlayStation has. done, with Xbox Head Phil Spencer telling Game Lab Live in late June, “We know this is something our fans want, but I'll also say we're going to build our first game around the things we think we need to. do to defend Xbox. ”If there's ever been a press conference to show what Spencer is alluding to, expect this event to be just that.
After much criticism of the lack of gameplay from the third-party games presented by Xbox in May, expect some to make a comeback and deepen as well. Titles like Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, Contempt, and Madden NFL 21 could be the ones seeking redemption, and possibly abandoning gameplay debuts during the showcase.
Additionally, Xbox may finally drop the curtain on the much cheaper, codenamed Xbox alternative console Lockhart, which is expected to be revealed this summer. No matter what is shown, expect it to be a long event, if the next-gen Xbox is to offer as many quality titles as the PlayStation 5.
