The new System Override Collection event is now live in Apex Legends. There's a plethora of new cosmetics, including a Legacy set for Octane, and an exciting game mode, Deja Loot. In this mode, loot spawns are permanent for each area of the map. So if you find a purple shield in a one game supply bin, it will be in the exact same spot the next game. Speaking of shields, also included in this permanent loot pool are the new Evo shields, which work a bit differently than regular shields.
Evo Shields can be found just like any other loot item in the game. However, they start out as common shields with a single shield bar instead of two. You'll know it's an Evo shield if it has a shiny shard around it.
When you equip the Evo Shield, you will only have one shield bar. Although, if you deal enough damage to an enemy, you will get another shield bar. You'll still need to reload your shield bars if you take damage during combat, of course.
Image via EAIt is not known how much damage is required to advance to the next shield level. However, you can see how much you need in the lower right corner of your screen during an Apex Legends match.
Evo Shields are great, as they reward more aggressive playstyles and take out the RNG of finding a high level shield. Additionally, Evo Shields have the ability to overcome the four shield bars of a purple or gold shield. If you deal enough damage, you'll get a red shield, which includes five shield bars in total.
So basically if you're an aggressive player who usually deals a ton of damage per match, you'll want to equip an Evo shield whenever you find one. Evo Shields can only be found in Apex Legends' Deja Loot mode, though. The System Override event ends in two weeks, so be sure to take advantage of the new functionality while you can.
