As you run around your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island, you'll find that the most troublesome thing you have to do beyond catching new fish and bugs is keeping track of your inventory space. You might feel like there is never enough space in your pockets. Fortunately, you can eventually unlock the possibility of having storage space.
Unfortunately, you won't be able to actively create additional storage space or a safe to hold all of your items. You have to wait until you can upgrade your house on your island to gain access to a whole new one in your residence. There are options to increase your transport space, however, which makes it easier to travel the world carrying most of the things you want to take with you and return to your island if you visit elsewhere. When you get home, press the right side of the directional pad to open your storage space and open your inventory, placing the items you want to keep safe in your home.
Many gamers also find that you no longer need to optimize storage space. All you have to do is drop any items you don't want to be on the ground, and you can come back to them later. Nothing happens to it and it stays safe until you need it again. You might want to keep your items close to your tent so you don't lose them, but this makes it a lot easier than having to consistently build or construct chests.
Storage is a huge deal in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, so work until you upgrade your home and you have access to better storage options.
