The New Years tour has arrived in Mario Kart Tour, which means a lot of new challenges to help us earn those Big Stars. One of the new challenges is to hit a Kadomatsu with an item three times in a single stroke.
Kodamatsu are traditional Japanese New Year's decorations that are placed in pairs, and you'll find them in pairs on the Tokyo Blur 2 course of the Mario Cup. You'll want to try to use drivers that can get more than one item on this course, as that will make it a lot easier to do.

It is best to stay between the middle and the back of the bag to make sure you have offensive items. You can use just about any offensive item, from green shells to banana throwing.
If you have trouble seeing or hitting the Kadomatsu due to the speed of the race, complete this 50 CC challenge to make it as easy as possible. When you get an offensive item, be sure to hold onto it until you see the Kadomatsu, then drive straight to it and use it like you're about to make contact.
There are two different pairs of Kadomatsu around the course, one pair is right at the finish line, while the other is just past the small ramp that goes off to the right side of the track. You will have to try to get at least one with an item every time you pass, as you will have to hit them three times in a single run. It's not a very difficult challenge once you know where they are.
