LEGO announces the arrival of a official set dedicated to Sonic the Hedgehog. The cubed version of the blue porcupine and the dottor Robotnik is based on the 2017 video game Sonic Mania. After the series of sets dedicated to Super Mario and Nintendo, the historic SEGA mascot will also have its own LEGO version.
Sonic the Hedgehod will have a dedicated LEGO set
Over the past four months, the LEGO Review Board he valued 35 fan ideas for products to be made in brick, among those that had reached at least 10.000 online supporters between May and September last year. But after having produced the series of sets dedicated to Super Mario with Nintendo, we could not miss a set dedicated to historical rival Sonic.
The new LEGO set was born from an idea of the passionate Viv Grannell, XNUMX-year-old from the United Kingdom. The image you see on the cover is in fact his original idea, not the final product with which we can play (hopefully as soon as possible). His idea has beaten others truly original ideas: there was even a LEGO version of Van Gogh's Starry Night. But even the highest art can't beat Sonic's speed.
SEGA's new blue hedgehog set
The new set is inspired by the level Green Hill Zone di Sonic Mania, game released in 2017. SEGA is enthusiastic to work with Viv and LEGO to carry out the project, as “we have always encouraged fans to contribute to the legacy of the Sonic franchise through their creations”.
The set designed by Viv will probably be very different from what we can build at the exit of the set, which for the moment does not have a release date yet. In the meantime, however, fans can use the Sonic minifigures come out as part of LEGO Dimensions, if they managed to get them before LEGO took them back.
We just have to wait for the arrival of the set. In the meantime, you might find Comic Book's Viv Grannell interview interesting. And if you don't find it blasphemous, you can play Mario's (as we did): after all, the mustachioed plumber and the blue hedgehog have long since made peace.
