Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery certainly offers you… yes, The Animatronics robots murdering a giant dysfunction in your home. This AR exhibit is finally trying to use augmented reality technology for what it was made for… horror. Yes, horror is what we've all been waiting for, and killer toys have come out of our '90s nightmares. The game naturally tries to do something more than the show has done so far, so let's take a look. closer.
Development and reception
The FNAF franchise has been around for a while now, since 2014 to be exact, and the franchise includes The Animated Movies, The Toys, The Songs, and The Video Games. It's a horror story designed for kids, but told with a particularly immersive method that created a world of its own. The stories include The Time Travel, The Detective Stories and, in this case, Survival. Several installments of the franchise have been remastered along the way and ported to mobile, and now FNAF AR is coming exclusively to scare you into your home.
Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery is offered by Illumix Inc. while the original developer of the series is Scott Cawthon, who conceived the original idea as an indie point-and-click survival horror video game. The game's initial success is what spawned the multimedia franchise that features other games, animated films, books, and more. Now, this AR project is moving away from point-and-click and bringing the action and horror a little closer to us.
Scenario
The story began with Freddy Fazbear Pizza, a friendly place for parents and their children, where they can enjoy their favorite food in a fun space. The main attractions of the place were Freddy and his two companions, who are all animatronic robots, built and programmed for entertainment. However, something goes wrong and The robots' behavior becomes unpredictable and even hostile.
Now this was all defined in the past, whereas today robots have evolved and turned their business into a mass phenomenon, where they deliver the robots meant to entertain us to our front door. .
gameplay">gameplay
This is where AR technology comes in, as the robots are delivered directly to us in augmented reality. We must use our mobile device, smartphone or tablet, depending on your use, and defend ourselves against these deadly robots. However, this is only the tip of the bloody knife, as there are The Dark Forces and The Shadows involved, all of which begin to invade our home.
We are armed with a flashlight and a TASER, and looking through the lens of your mobile device, you must follow and locate the robots, deactivate them and banish the shadows. But, the robots have the camouflage devices and other tricks up their sleeves and there is only little power you can use for your light or your TASER. All the gameplay">gameplay is based on the FPS horror experience, but there are also other things you can do, like read the mail that Fazbear sends you, and even reprogram the bots that you manage to disable. You can remove the robots for parts and processor, then deploy your own animatronic robots for self-defense.
Appearence
Since the game uses AR technology, the only models are the animatronic robots, which look like animated movies and other episodes. So very real and scary! The horror aspect is also heavily dependent on faulty equipment so your vision is constantly failing which makes matters worse as you hunt The Invisible Robots most of the time.
Verdict
Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery is definitely worth it. The gameplay">gameplay doesn't offer too much diversity in terms of content, but it turns out to be a fun augmented reality experience, especially because it turns your home into a horror survival hideaway. How much fun you can have is largely up to you and how much you are willing to give this game, but at best it can keep you and the other family members entertained.
