Among the recent films in the Star Wars universe, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is undoubtedly one of the most successful with critics and audiences. Thanks to the fidelity to the atmosphere of the original trilogy, to the epic return to the scene of Darth Vader, to the ending that connects perfectly with the beginning of the saga, but also to the excellent performance of Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso. A character who honors the saga's remarkable tradition of female roles, not disfiguring at all in comparison with the various Leia, Padmé and Rey. Thanks to this film, Felicity Jones has carved out a place in the hearts of Star Wars fans, who would like to see her again in the role of Jyn.
However, there is a problem. As we know, the character of Felicity Jones is involved in the destruction of the planet Scarif by the Death Star in the last bars of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. A heroic and touching sequence, which seems to close the door to a return to the scene of Jyn. However, the British actress did not surrender to the fate of her character, and she proves it with a few jokes granted to HeyUGuys during the promotion of the Netflix film The Last Love Letter.
Will Jyn Erso be back in Star Wars? Felicity Jones answers
Never ever close the door on Jyn Erso. Never. I was having this conversation with someone the other day and I was trying to say, "Well, look, you know there was some kind of nuclear explosion at the end of the movie." And they said, 'No, it didn't seem like that at all. It doesn't look like they're dead. ' And I said something like, "Well, okay then". There is a chance for a return.
While Felicity Jones's statement was made in a joking tone, it's not the first time the actress has talked about a possible return of Jyn. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she went off balance with these words:
I keep saying that reincarnation is totally possible in the Star Wars universe. (Laughs). So, I feel like Jyn's story isn't over yet. I think it would be fascinating to see her grow older and wiser as she battles the dark forces in the universe, and there are a lot of them apparently.
I mean, what is Felicity Jones trying to tell us? Is there really something at stake or is it just very difficult to break away from the Star Wars saga for anyone who has been a part of it? We will soon see if the actress's desire will materialize or if Jyn's return will remain only a fascinating suggestion.
