The Epic Games Store is a victim of his generosity. After offering GTA V as a free game, the massive influx of players crashed the platform's servers.

The failure now seems to be resolved, everything is back to normal. For our part, we were able to connect to the Epic Games Store site without difficulty. The Downdetector site reports an almost total recovery of the situation.

Like many players around the world, you probably rushed to the Epic Games Store to pick up GTA V. Indeed, the publisher revealed on May 14 that the rockstar Games juggernaut would be the free game of the week. However, the massive influx of players has obviously got the better of the platform's servers.

As evidenced by numerous testimonials on the downdetector site, the Epic Games Store has been down for a few hours. Several error messages return in a loop. In our case, we simply cannot access the site. We are entitled to a simple “403 Forbidden”. For some, the language was changed without reason, accompanied by an error message code 505.

“What's the concept of the GTA V Epic Games Store bug? Each time I click on the button, it changes my language! ”, Says one Internet user. “Epic Games Store bugged so much that it put me in Spanish with error 505 ″, explains another user on DownDetector.

Epic apologizes

Code 500 appears to be the most common among users. It is then impossible to connect to the Epic Games Stores. For its part, the publisher has just reacted on Twitter: “We are aware that users are currently experiencing slow loading times, 500 errors or launcher crashes and we are actively working to increase the capacity of the server. We will keep you informed of developments as soon as we can ”.

Too bad for the Epic Games Store and Rockstar who were probably counting on this operation to attract new players to its platform for one, and to GTA Online for the other. As a reminder, GTA V is one of the biggest boxes in history, with more than $ 6 billion in profit since its release.

We are currently experiencing high traffic on the Epic Games Store.

We are aware that users may be encountering slow loading times, 500 errors, or launcher crashing at this time and we are actively working to scale. We'll provide an update as soon as we can.
