Spellbreak wants his Harry Potter-style magical fight to become the next great free-to-play game. The Protelariat multiplayer spellcasting Battle Royale title sounds like a ton of fun, but in order for it to have any chance of success it will need to have a significant user base.
Pitting as many players as possible against each other would require cross-play functionality. Being able to play Spellbreak on any number of systems and being able to continue your progress with you would also help its cause. So, does Spellbreak have cross play and cross progression wired into its code?
Let's start with crossplay. Yes, Spellbreak supports cross-platform play. The Protelariat game is available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It launched on September 3, so it's currently available for trial.
With the cross play feature, you can fight against players on other systems, which means there should always be people to fight with. It also supports group play, so if you're playing on PC and your friend only has a Nintendo Switch, you can team up to take on other people.
As for cross progression, Spellbreak also supports this function. This means that your in-game progress can be transferred from one platform to another, without you having to set up a new character on each. So, for example, you could be a PC Spellbreak gamer who owns a Switch console. If you own Spellbreak on both platforms and need to take a trip where you can only take your Switch with you, your progress will be transferred from your PC edition to your Switch when you log into Spellbreak on your Switch.
