CrossfireX will be released on Xbox One soon. Before its full launch, the first-person shooter receives two beta tests - a closed beta and an open beta - so players can try out a few maps and its online multiplayer component.
As these betas will pit you against other players trying the game for the first time on Microsoft's console, you'll want to know if you need an Xbox Live account to play. From that, you'll also want to know if an Xbox Live Gold account is required as well. Pick up your gun, soldier, and let's take a look.
Do I need an Xbox Live Gold account to play CrossfireX?
As CrossfireX's two beta tests will be played online, you'll need an Xbox Live account to play. It doesn't matter if you participate in the Closed Beta, the Open Beta, or both. You will need to have an Xbox Live account to be able to test the game.
But that's not all. You will also need to have an Xbox Live Gold subscription to play CrossfireX. We know you'll need it as an official CrossfireX Twitter account revealed just as much.
In a tweet announcing the start of the Closed Beta - you can read more about both beta tests in this guide - it was confirmed that Xbox Live Gold is required for online multiplayer. It makes sense that, since this is an online multiplayer test, you'll need an Xbox Live Gold account to try it out. You can have an Xbox Live account, but without a Gold membership you cannot play the vast majority of online multiplayer titles on Xbox One.
If you don't have one, you can still purchase an Xbox Live Gold membership. Alternatively, you can purchase an Xbox Game Pass membership, which comes with an included Gold account. Either way, if you want to play either CrossfireX beta, you'll need an Xbox Live Gold membership.
