Bravely Default 2 Spoiler-Lite Walkthrough - Prologue Part 2

Since Bravely Default 2 is a very narrative game, I'll try to keep any spoilers to a minimum. Cinematic details will be sparse and characters will only be named as needed. Additionally, this walkthrough will follow a checklist format to keep things short and to the point. I'll list the monsters encountered along the critical path (to include their weaknesses), and treasure chests (along with what they contain). Enemies and bosses are natural but necessary spoilers, so I'll mark this article with a slight spoiler warning here, and I will precede each boss with a more obvious spoiler warning.

Bravely Default 2 Walkthrough Prologue Part 2

The road to Halcyonia / Valley of Sighs

• Exit Halcyonia and follow the road heading due east, cross a bridge, then go up the path until you charge into the Valley of Sighs
  • The Valley of Sighs has Rocs, Asps, Ahriman, Aqua Elements and Hecatoncheir.
    • Roc (Beast) is weak against lightning and bows.
    • Asps (Demon) are weak at Light and Staves.
    • Ahriman (demon) is weak in the face of light and bows.
    • Aqua Element (Spirit) is weak against lightning and sticks.
    • Hecatoncheir (Demon) is weak against water and axes.
  • There are five chests in the Vale of Sighs.
    • Follow the path to the fork, then take the upper path to the first chest. Defeat the Ahriman 3x for one.
    • Go back to the fork and continue on the lower path for the second chest (.
    • At the end of the path near the save point and the dungeon portal, turn left for the third chest which is guarded by the Hecatoncheir (it's not terrible to fight, but it has 2928 health points and punches for triple-digit damage).
    • Continue on the path to the right, past the save point and the dungeon portal. Take the road down to the split towards the second Hecatoncheir for the fourth chest (.
    • The fifth chest is after the second save point and the dungeon portal, but you can't access it until you complete some cutscenes and a few boss battles. Follow the story to the first path, then go back down and up the second. After the boss fights this second path will be blocked and you will take the third path to keep moving forward. Follow this road until the fork after the third gate of the dungeon, and hang on the left to the chest and fight another Hecatoncheir. The trunk contains
  • Follow the path until you reach a second save point and the dungeon portal (as shown above for the fifth chest), where a cutscene will come into play. Take the first path to complete the next objective, then get off and take the second (the third is a dead end for now).
  • Another cutscene will start halfway through the second path. At the end, a boss battle will begin.

Horton (monk)

• Horton (humanoid): 8892 Health, weak to Earth, swords, and bows.
• Horton will occasionally use a powerful counter against physical attacks, so you'll need to either cast Protect Your Attackers or focus on using spells. However, you don't have an Earth spell yet, so if you want to take advantage of its Sword and Bow vulnerabilities, you'll need to be prepared to mitigate its counters.
  • Wielding a sword on your Vanguard is a solid idea - paired with Protect and Defang, they can absorb a lot of Horton's hits.
  • Your Vanguard probably also has Shield Bash, which deals damage to Earth.
  • Use Aggravate on your vanguard to attract aggro from Horton, and Protect and Cura from your white mage to keep him standing. Do this and you will quickly pass the battle.
    • Sir Sloan will help with damage and healing throughout the fight.

After defeating Horton, a cutscene will play and you will technically unlock Monk Job. However, you won't be able to use it immediately, as a second “scripted” boss battle will begin.

Adam

• Adam (humanoid): 94860 HP, weak against axes.
  • It is a struggle of history, pure and simple. You can attack Adam, but you will do negligible damage and he will hit you with markers. Just survive the fight until everyone falls and the cutscene kicks in (on that note, you can intentionally kill everyone by using the attack command to trigger Adam's counter to rush the battle).

Bravely Default 2 Prologue Part 2 Final

• After the long cutscene, you will finally reach the opening credits and the title presentation. You're not quite done with the Prologue yet, but you're almost there.
• Get back on the path (using the save point along the way) and go down the third path since the second one you took to fight Horton is now blocked. Follow the main path to loot the fifth chest (as detailed above), exit the Vale of Sighs, and conclude the prologue after a cutscene.
